THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK
Happy New Year Unami,
As many of us do, I start the new year with a long lists of resolutions. My personal resolutions always revolve around living "healthier" and my professional resolutions focus on how I can better serve my school community.
I recognize that teaching is very personal vocation. One that requires risk-taking and trust. As you begin the new year, please trust that John and I are here to support you and appreciate your dedication to your profession and your care for your students. I would agree with the advice given by Stephen Rutherford (teaching channel), "teach from the heart".
Have a great 2016!
Electronic Device Policy Refresher
Please take a few minutes during your resource periods (9th grade may use SSR time) to review Unami's policy. Please reinforce to students that if their phones are "ON, OUT OR AUDIBLE" without a teacher's direct permission, that they are in violation of the policy and will be sent to the office with their devices.
It is our understanding from feedback that completing a behavior referral for cell phone violations presents a critical time burden for teachers. Therefore, teachers may simply send the student in violation to the office with their device. Administration will follow the policy from that point.
Changing this culture will require consistency from everyone. We will reevaluate at the end of the school year and determine if our policy should be revisited for the 2016-17 school year.
CB SCHOOL BOARD POLICIES
Just a reminder to everyone from our 1st day faculty meeting that the expectation has been set from Dr. Weitzel that all CB teachers are familiar with the specific CB School Board Policies listed below. Please be sure to take some time to review these policies.
