1st Nine Weeks Outstanding AVID Student Award Winners

7th Grade AVID
Students are beginning a memoir essay where they describe a significant event in their life and how it changed them as a person. We will also have some fun team building activities before we leave for break. We are excited to announce that we will be adding a new 7th grade section and many new 7th grade students next semester! We love our 7th graders!

Students are completing a Passion Speech and will begin presenting on Monday. Students will have three sets of Focused Notes due Monday as well as a tutorial on Thursday. There will be no tutorial on Tuesday due to our Passion Speech presentations. We will end the semester with a community service project to Valley View nursing home and a fun gingerbread house competition!

Meet the AVID Elective Teachers!
Mrs. Gliniecki
Mrs. Gliniecki is our AVID District Coordinator and teaches 7th grade AVID and AVID 101 for 6th grade. She lives in Junction City with her husband Larry and their cat Vladimir. Formerly a 6th grade Language Arts teacher, she is an AMAZING baker and gardener who also sews quilts. Her favorite thing to do is to care for and teach middle school students how to reach their highest potential.

Mrs. Holzer
Mrs. Holzer is a former choir teacher who fell in love with the AVID program and is now the JCMS AVID Site Coordinator. She teaches 7th and 8th grade AVID as well as 6th grade AVID 101. She lives in Junction City with her husband Rhyan and their four kids. Mrs. Holzer loves fishing, hunting, camping and of course AVID!
Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough.
