From the Principal
With lots of excitement (and anxiety) we came into this first week of hybrid, and our students did amazing. Our teachers worked hard to prepare their lessons and learn the new technology needs, our custodians prepared their building and classrooms for our current needs, and our food service went with their carts around the building delivering lunches each day. I was so impressed with everyone and appreciate our parents support and patience as we went through this most recent transition.
I hope you have an awesome weekend. Go Bears!
Jason Kaiz
Principal
Map Testing is Coming!
- Hybrid Testing: Students who are attending school in person in our Hybrid environment will take MAP tests during their in-person time. Accommodations will be made just as in the past.
- GOAL Testing: GOAL students will take MAP tests remotely.
PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES- OCTOBER 16!
Parent Teacher Conferences will look a bit different this year!
You will have the opportunity to meet with one of your student's B block teachers (Math, Science, Social Studies, ELA) and all of your student's A block teachers (Global Language, P.E., Art/Drama/Music, etc.) via scheduled Zoom calls.
Conference sign up times will NOT be released via Powerschool. Instead your student's assigned B-block teacher will distribute a customized signup link directly to your email. This email will be sent Tuesday, 10/6 at 8:15 a.m. under the subject "Fall Conference Sign-Up". Sign-up will close on Sunday, 10/11 at midnight. On Thursday, 10/15, you will receive a zoom link and password to the meeting that you chose. Most conferences will take place on 10/16.
Our teachers and staff look forward to meeting with you!

School Attendance Assessment
As we return to in person learning, please note that you must complete the screening/certification process for your child every day that he or she comes to school for school, a meeting or an activity. Here is the process you will follow each in-person day:
Log in to District 34's PowerSchool web portal before leaving for school, to complete the self-certification tool for each student who is attending school in person.
Click on the SUBMIT SELF-ASSESSMENT link on the home page to submit your child’s temperature and answer questions about COVID-19 symptoms and exposure. Click submit. If you have multiple students in District 34 attending in person on the same day, click on each student to fill out the self-assessment for them as well.
When students arrive at school, the school will have a check-in process to confirm completion of the self-certification process. If it has not been completed, a staff member will conduct a temperature check and screening. If the screening indicates COVID-19 symptoms, the health office will immediately send the student to the infirmary and contact the parent or guardian to pick up the student.
