Cozine Climber Updates - October 30
A Note From Cozine:
Hi Climber Families!
We are one quarter of the school year down! It's amazing how quickly the time goes! Thank you for your consistent involvement and participation in our school and activities.
In Kindness,
Ms. Jodi Notch and Ms. Lisa Dalton
NEW INFORMATION
Cozine is Hiring!
Cozine is hiring for multiple CTT positions. CTTs work with small groups of students to provide instructional interventions throughout the school day. We are hiring one CTT per grade level.
A CTT must hold a substitute license with the district and state, but we can help with that process. If you would like more information about this, please let us know here at Cozine or fill out the application at THIS LINK.
Cell Phones and Smart Watches
At Cozine, students are required to keep their personal communication devices off and in their backpacks during instructional hours. Students are permitted to use their phones before and after school. This aligns with district policy that helps prevent bullying, cyber bullying, unfiltered internet access, and cheating. If you have questions about this policy, please reach out to the office or school administration.
No School
There is no school for students on:
Friday, November 10 - Veterans Day
Wednesday, November 22 - Friday, November 24 - Thanksgiving Holiday
Video Game Truck Contest
All students (K-5) should be reading each night as part of their homework. All minutes read should be recorded on a student's APPLE CORE bookmark. The class with the highest percentage of APPLE CORE bookmarks turned in by Friday, December 8th will earn one hour in a video game truck on December 13th. Only students in the winning classes who have turned in bookmarks can participate. So, tell you students to get reading and turn in those bookmarks!
Fall Festival
Thank you to all those that donated items for our annual Fall Festival! And thank you to those of you that attended the Fall Festival! We use this fundraiser to support extra programs for our students and we couldn't do it without your support.
Garden Club Updates
There are some updates to the schedule for those students in Garden Club for the month of November. There is NO Garden Club on November 1 or November 15. Garden Club will meet on November 8 this month.
Yearbook Art Contest
All students are invited to participate in the Art Contest to design the covers for the school yearbook. Students must get their design paper and contest flyer from Mrs. Linde in the Art Room. All designs are due to Mrs. Linde by Thursday, November 16, 2023. Winners will receive a free yearbook.
The design should include the school name, school year, and incorporate this year's theme.
School Name: Cozine Elementary
School Year: 2023-2024
Theme: What makes Las Vegas, Nevada a great place to live?
Students should design a cover that shows some of the things that make Las Vegas, Nevada a wonderful place to live. Ideas could include our school, our community, our outstanding professional sports teams, tourist attractions, the beauty of our desert habitat, or aspects of Nevada history and the state symbols. Be creative!
Yearbook Sales
It's time to order your school yearbook. You can purchase the yearbook online at buytheyearbook.com (Cozine's school ID# is 715542). Cash purchases will be available for parents on Wednesdays during arrival and dismissal by the front gate. Exact change only please. Yearbooks are $25. Reserving your yearbook early helps us know how many to order and ensures that you don't miss out on a year of memories!
Restaurant Fundraiser Nights
Thank you for supporting our U-Swirl night! It was a huge success and we made $278! This money helps us support student involvement programs such as sports, cheerleading, and our garden club.
Please mark your calendars for our upcoming Restaurant Nights:
- Wednesday, November 8, 4-8pm - Chipotle at 1920 Craig Rd
- Tuesday, December 12 - Cafe Zupas at 1850 Craig Rd
Also, thank you to those of you that supported our Kneaders and Panda Express Fundraiser Nights! We made just over $450 on these nights combined! We look forward to more fun restaurant nights next school year!
Safe Routes to Schools Survey
Please take a moment and complete the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) survey regarding your students' mode of travel to and from school. The survey is for parents with students in grades K-12. If you have more than one child in the Clark County School District (CCSD), attending the same school, please complete one survey only for the eldest student in each school.
The survey asks you to check areas that affected your decision to allow your child to walk/bike to school. With this information, we are able to advance the safety education programs we bring to the schools and improve areas along walking/bike routes to your child's school. The survey will only take a moment and does not ask for any names, however, there is a place for comments at the bottom.
There is a link for the survey in Spanish, as well as in English.
Surveys are due no later than November 22, 2023.
House Spirit Days
We have monthly House Spirit Days! Students are encouraged to dress in their house spirit colors for these days! Students new to Cozine will be assigned their house on Friday, August 18. All returning Climbers will stay in the same house.

REMINDERS
Parking Lot Safety
We would like to remind you of the importance of driving safely in and around the school parking lot. The safety of our students is our top priority, and we need your help to ensure that everyone is safe.
Please remember to follow all traffic rules and regulations when driving in and around the school parking lot. This includes obeying speed limits, stopping at stop signs, and yielding to pedestrians. It is also important to park only in designated areas and avoid double parking or blocking other vehicles. Around Drop-off and Pick-up times, there is only one entrance to the lot. Please do not enter through the exit, they are clearly marked.
Lastly, our children learn from us. Be the example. Follow the rules.
By working together, we can create a safe environment for our students. Thank you for your cooperation.
