April 2022
A Note from NSE Administration
Dear North Smyrna Elementary School Families,
April will be bringing many fun events to NSE! This month, we look forward to celebrating our Spanish Immersion program with families on a night devoted to showcasing the learning students have gained in the Spanish language. Our school will be supporting the March of Dimes for the April Kindness Project. At the end of the month, our PTO will be hosting a family event called the Fun Run! Spring Break is also just a few short weeks away. We hope this time brings our NSE families relaxation and joy in being together. For our families who will be traveling during this time, we hope you have a safe trip.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our office. We are here to support our students and are happy to help.
Sincerely,
Dr. Amber Augustus, Principal
Mrs. Amanda Noll, Associate Principal

Arrival and Dismissal Updates
Our front bus lane is one way for all traffic. Please help us maintain a safe environment for families and students entering and leaving our school grounds by following the traffic pattern.
Thank you for your help and cooperation as we work to ensure a safe arrival and dismissal for every child.
Health and Wellness
Before sending your child to school each day, take a moment to evaluate his or her wellness using the Health Self-Screener below.
If your child tests positive for COVID or has been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID, please contact our school nurse, Mrs. Hastings, by phone at 302-653-8589 or by email at trudy.hastings@smyrna.k12.de.us.
Counselors' Corner with Mrs. Brogen & Ms. Mullen
Below the Breathing Stick activity, you will find a monthly calendar to encourage ways to incorporate movement into every day.
Child Nutrition
At NSE, all students receive one free breakfast and lunch daily.
The NSE Cafeteria is also offers students the option to purchase a snack, drink, or a double entree at lunch. If your child is interested in purchasing one of these options, he/she will need additional money in their account. Money can be added to your student's lunch account by sending in cash, a check (made out to the Smyrna School District), or by creating a myschoolbucks.com account to deposit funds electronically. If you have any questions,, please contact our Main Office.
Student Absences
Smyrna School District's Chromebook 1:1 Program
- Charge the Chromebook nightly
- Place the Chromebook back in the bookbag before each morning
We are excited that this group of students have the opportunity to use technology across home and school as they build a skillset that they will use throughout their lives.
Chromebook Student Accounts
As our students begin the year working with district Chromebooks and district Google accounts, we want to share information on student IDs and passwords needed for logging in:
- For all students, their userid is firstname.lastname. If there are students with the same name in the District, we append a “1”, “2”, etc onto the lastname (john.smith, john.smith1, john.smith2). If this applies to your child, you will be notified.
- For all K-6 grade students, their password will be SSD###### with the “######” being the student’s School Lunch Number, and it will stay the same from year-to-year.
If you have any questions with logging in, please contact your child's teacher.
Grading for K-3
Home Access Center is not available to Early Childhood students. Performance updates for all students in our Early Childhood program occur periodically throughout the year or by contacting your child's teacher.
