TIGER TALK
Week of September 23rd-27th
Measure of Academic Progress (MAP)
We will continue to assess the students in MAP throughout this upcoming week. Students in K-5th grade will take the Reading and Math component of the assessment. We will also assess our 5th graders in Science and 4th grade Language. Unlike the state assessment (STAAR), the MAP test is information our teachers can use immediately to change the trajectory of student learning. It is real-time information that allows our teachers to teach skills students are ready to learn. We assess students three times a year with the MAP assessment. Our goal is to see student growth between each administration of the assessment. Teachers and students have set goals to move toward growth, not mastery. NWEA is not a test for mastery. It is a test that pinpoints exactly what our students are ready to learn, whether it be below, on, or above grade-level. Each student learns at a different pace. The MAP test allows us to direct our teaching to exactly what your child needs. The test sessions are no longer than an hour. The testing window is from September 17th-September 27th. Teachers will communicate the results of the MAP assessment with parents after the window closes. Please be sure your child's Chromebook is at school and charged every day, not only for MAP but for all instruction.

Parents and Guardians, we are excited to announce our first 2019/2020 upcoming Parent Workshop. Please join us on September 30th from 6:00-7:00 pm at Ann Brock Elementary to learn effective strategies on making rules and enforcing consequences. Information will be brought to us by the Fort Worth Parenting Center. Parents who attend will automatically be given a free dress day sticker for their child. Parents who attend will also have the opportunity to put their child's name into a grade level drawing where one student from each grade level will be drawn to have a Chick-Fil-A Lunch with the Principal! Please take the time to let us know if you will be attending so we are able to accommodate in space and resources. Also, please remember this workshop is for parents/guardians only and there will be no childcare provided.
Please register by Wednesday, September 25, 2019.
