Dust Devil Dispatch
Joan MacQueen Middle School
Staff Update
Team,
We have a few weeks under our belt and we continue to get better day by day. I wanted to start a program to give one another kudos for going above and beyond for one another. It is based on the book published by Donald Clifton called "How Full is Your Bucket". Clifton's theory says that each of us has an invisible dipper that we can either use to fill other people's buckets with positive emotions by saying or doing things that increase their positive emotions, or dipping from others' buckets by saying or doing things that decrease their positive emotions. The theory also explains that when we fill others' buckets, we also fill our own, It is called for give some shout outs to some folks for their making JMMS a better place. Every two weeks when we send out the DDD (Dust Devil Dispatch) I will do a call for Drops and you can fill your teammate's buckets with positive drops.
To Get Started:
To:
Laura G. who has a great smile and a warm greeting to everyone who enters the Welcome Center. That first impression is a great one for JMMS. She has also been a wealth of institutional knowledge about JMMS and Alpine.
Leslie P. who puts up with my ADHD and keeps me on track and on schedule. We are working well together and she is a go-getter for JMMS and our kids.
To our Special Education Team and our Co-Teachers - It is not easy to change a service delivery model with little to no training. Our team is off and running, there have been struggles and frustration but it is because we all want to find success.
To Coach Fazekas and Coach Flowers - For weeks of PE in the heat and humidity without a single heat-related injury or parent concern keep up the good work and keep the kiddos hydrated.
Supervision
Team,
Here was the supervision schedule proposed at our last staff meeting. If you traded or made changes around your duty please make those changes on the document.
We are doing a good job of getting to the appropriate places during supervision. Please be sure and mingle with the students when you are on duty we are always working, working, working on relationships. If you have questions about supervision please don't hesitate to ask.
Budget and Reimbursement "Important"
Budget - We are still working on finalizing our budget moving forward and updates will be provided as they become available. Until that time your classroom budgets from our Instructional Supply Budget is $300.00/classroom.
Reimbursement - You can get reimbursed for classroom supplies from your classroom supply budget or your friends of account. Please however remember these guidelines because if they are not followed it is unlikely you will be reimbursed.
- The total amount can't exceed $250.00
- Itemized receipt must accompany your request for reimbursement.
- You can't have items for home and school on the same receipt. You must ask for separate receipts when you check out.
Sandy Hook Promise/See Something Say Something
Air Conditioning
One of the largest nonsalaried expenses in Alpine is utilities. That money comes from the district's general fund and affects our bottom line. Eventually your bottom line, as money that could be forwarded to your classroom or even a raise during budget negotiations.
So remember:
- Turn your thermostat to 72 during the day.
- Turn the AC off when you leave
The AC could be shut down after hours if our bill continues to rise. Please do your part to use electricity wisely.
