PLEASE SEND A WATER BOTTLE WITH YOUR CHILD EVERY DAY.

Thanks.

Teacher Appreciation Week May 3-7

This week we give a big shout out to all our fabulous teachers who have worked tirelessly all year long. We have been in school since September 8th and we could not be prouder of our staff for what we have accomplished.

Consider having your child and/or family write a thank you note to your child's teacher thanking him/her for a great year. Our successful in-person school year is a result of our teachers and staff.

THANK YOU TO OUR GREAT TEACHERS AND STAFF! YOU ARE AMAZING.

safety update

On Friday, we practiced an emergency drill on our playground. There may be a time that we need to get our students into the school quickly when they are outside. We have an emergency whistle that has a very shrill sound. When the students hear the whistle, they drop everything and line up quickly so we can bring them inside. We practiced this drill on Friday.

We also had another practice Fire Drill. We have 4/5 drills completed so far.

Thank you to our 1st graders

Our 1st graders led us in a beautiful prayer service this morning.

During the month of May, we honor our Blessed Mother by crowning her with flowers and adorning her with bouquets of flowers.

IMPORTANT: May 6th and 7th

1. West Broadway parking lot closed all day---Thursday May 6th due to plant sale.

AM-- Please drop your K-1st grader off on the Hubbard Ave. playground, pull into the lot and children will cross the street at the corner with our crossing guards.

PM--Parents will join our car line along 40 1/2 and Hubbard Ave. Do not wait in front of the school due to bus pick-up. When all buses leave the curb, cars will pull forward on Hubbard in front of the school.

2. Plant Sale pick up on May 6th beginning around 2:00 pm in the parking lot behind the school.

3. NO SCHOOL -FRIDAY, MAY 7 due to a professional development day for staff.

Safety Protocols we will continue next year

We will NOT be offering all year distance learning for students next year.

We have found many safety protocols are working well. We will continue the following procedures next year:

  • Dots in upper hallway and playground. This helps students keep their personal space.
  • Handwashing before entering each classroom in AM and before eating. More hand washing eliminates germs.
  • Sanitize desks at end of day. Teachers will continue to do daily.
  • Zoom for those that may be quarantined for COVID for 10-14 days. No Zoom for those absent 1-3 days or those traveling. All year distance learning will NOT be an option.
  • We will offer in-person and Zoom parent/teacher conferences. Parents will have a choice. Zoom offers some parents more flexibility with work schedules.
  • We will offer Closed Facebook pages for parents in each classroom. This helps parents stay connected.
  • Back to School Night: We will continue offering 15 minute appointments for Back to School Night. This allows each family to have personal time with their child's teacher.

Ultimate Parent Survey-HAVE YOU COMPLETED YOUR SURVEY? ONLY 3 QUESTIONS TO ANSWER.

Sacred Heart Catholic School/Parish started a development and strategic planning process in 2019 designed to improve our development, communication, and enrollment management efforts. This process involved many people – parents, parishioners, alumni, faculty and staff, and others.

One of the steps in this process is to conduct an annual survey that will invite input from many people who make up our school and parish community. Business researchers have tested hundreds of questions related to satisfaction and they determined that the ultimate satisfaction question to ask is: “Would you recommend our Catholic school to your family, friends, and colleagues?” Realizing the importance of your input to this development process, we are asking you the ultimate question to better understand how we can improve as a school.

With this in mind, we invite you to take the time to complete the short satisfaction survey. We want to keep your response anonymous and are therefore not asking for your name. The link to take this survey will be emailed to you tomorrow.

Please know that we will take the responses we receive on this satisfaction survey seriously. Everyone will receive a summary of the results, and this information will be great to have as we continue the development and planning process.

We thank you for your input.

There are many dissatisfied families in the Robbinsdale School District and we want to share the success Sacred Heart has had this school year We are so fortunate to have our school doors open, welcoming our students each morning. Plus we have the additional $150 incentive for all new kindergarteners that register before January 31, 2020. See below.

SHCCW Rummage Sale at Sacred Heart--May 20-22

The Sacred Heart Council of Catholic Women (SHCCW) is planning to hold their annual spring TREASURE HUNT!!!! The dates are May 19-21 with the usual drop off day of May 19, presale May 20, full sale on May 21 and half price and half day on May 22. We expect this to be a huge fund raiser for Sacred Heart since we were not able to have these sales last year.

In order to ensure we can hold this sale, we need enough volunteers. The majority of our volunteers have been the people who had been most vulnerable to COVID. I don’t know how many of my wonderful volunteers will be able to return so I am praying and hoping for new faces to add this year.

We need volunteers all day on Wednesday when we sort and display the items that are dropped off.

The hours will be from approximately 10am to 8pm. On Thursday, in the morning we will continue to sort and organize. The afternoon will be the presale when we will only need a few people to help. On Friday, we anticipate the hours to be 8:30am to 6pm, as usual. We need people who will straighten the table as people delightedly find all sorts of great treasures. Saturday after the sale, we desperately need people to pack everything up. I am currently trying to find a place that will take all the leftover items from the sale.

All COVID protocols will be in place. We will be wearing masks and gloves. We will require our guests to wear masks and do safe distancing. If we actually get too many guests at one time, we will limit the number of people who are allowed into the gym. We will not be able to offer coffee and donuts as we have done in the past.

If you can help, please consider volunteering at any time during those days, any hours you can arrange. Please text/call me at 763-202-6014 or email me at reneebuc@gmail.com and let me know what days you can volunteer. If we do not get enough volunteers, we will not be able to hold the Treasure Hunt.

Thank you in advance for your support. Renee Buchanan
