Thoughts from Mrs. G
I will say that as my kids are both in high school now, it is bittersweet. They are old enough to appreciate things in a way they never had in the past, however, it has hit me that we only have a little time left with them before *gulp* college and sharing them with other people.
Be sure to squeeze your kids and hold onto the little moments as long as you can. And when they leave that pile of candy wrappers next to a blanket under the kitchen table- repeat to yourself, 'they are only little for a little while.'
True Story from break:
Me: *unloading groceries*
Kid 2: YAAAAAASSSS!! You got M&M's!!!
Me: *looks at kid 2 with "the look"* Yes, for cookies. You may eat ONE bag of M&M's. Only ONE.
Kid 2: Ok- thanks!
---Later that same day---
Me: *throws away the empty bag of M&Ms that kid 2 ate and left on the table*

Me: What is this?? I thought I said only ONE bag of M&M's!! ONE BAG!
Kid 2: huh? Yeah. One bag. A day.
Me:
Kid 2:
Me: What? a DAY? What? NO!! I said ONE bag! ONE BAG! TOTAL! Are you being serious right now?? What??!
Kid 2: OOOHHhhhhhh, I thought you meant one a DAY!
Me: No. *slow blinks while trying not to scream...*
Kid 2: Ohhhh. Sorry, Mom. *Runs to her room and room and returns with a ziploc baggie full of M&M's.*
