The main reasons respondents listed for choosing Ridge was full day Kindergarten, the balanced calendar, and a longer school day. Other reasons listed included social emotional learning, Ridge's focus on family and community, working together, and an excellent staff dedicated to students.
When asked, What do you see in the future for Ridge?, answers included expanding to include grades 6, 7, and 8, STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) focus, science based learning, and less standardized testing.
We certainly concur with parents on the importance of safety, as well as preparing students to be successful for life and utilizing 21st century learning skills as a focus of student learning.
The information and data will be used in our planning for continuous improvement. Please note that Ben Grey, Assistant Superintendent for Innovative Learning and Communication, and I will make a preliminary presentation at the February 22 Board of Education meeting regarding the future possibility to expand Ridge to a K-8 school.
