1. Common assessments:
Librarians at each level should be using the common assessments as established in the curriculum. All data for assessments will be put in Performance Tracker.
2. February induction featuring librarians:
Each librarian will meet with the inductees at the February building induction meetings. Inductees will be introduced to the librarian and library resources.
3. Reading Olympics:
Librarians provided updates on the status of Reading Olympics at each level. This year’s competition will be at Springton Lake Middle School. Elementary and high school: April 27; Elementary: April 29; Middle School; April 30.
4. Read Across America:
Librarians shared some of the ideas and activities being planned at each school.
5. A. Summer reading lists
We discussed the idea that all levels use the PA Young Reader’s Choice list as the summer reading list. Currently, RMS uses the Delaware County Reading Olympics list. Catherine will present this idea to the language arts department for support/approval. Additionally,
B. Summer Programming
Maureen asked if any librarians are interested in offering summer programs to students and/or parents. This would be in coordination with the summer institutes that are running from July 20-August 13 at RES. Ideas included parent workshops, reading activities with kids, and booktalks/book clubs related to the summer reading books.
6. PIN for 15-16 – to be discussed at our March meeting. Start thinking about what you would like to present.
7. NTP vs Teaching Professional:
Maureen discussed the difference between the two categories and how the “pie” is constructed for each. For details on how each is assessed you can find a link on the District website. Go to Staff – Teacher Specific – Educational Effectiveness. You will need to login to Schoolwires to access this page. This year, elementary librarians are “Teaching Professionals,” the middle school librarian is a “Teaching Professional,” and the high school librarian is a “NTP”.
8. Secondary – Digital Citizenship Lessons/Schedule
Catherine and Michelle shared how/when the lessons are being delivered. Maureen suggested Catherine contact Michael Pettiti and request he do a feature on the digital citizenship curriculum at RMS and include information about what is done at all schools in the District.
9. One Book One School – brainstormed ideas for titles and what it would look like. Michelle is researching this more and will report back to the group at our next meeting.
10. Late fees/Fines/Deleting Fines from Student Records:
It was discussed that there would be no late fees, only replacement fees for lost books.
11. Chairperson Description and calendar of events:
A description and calendar of events was drafted with input from the group. Catherine submitted the document to Todd Stitzel as per his request.

Mission and Philosophy
Mission
The library media center is central to the learning process occurring in schools. Its program is designed to produce students who are information literate. Information literate students are effective users of information in a variety of formats. The school library media center is the vehicle that provides opportunities for students to attain information literacy and to foster a lifelong interest in acquiring knowledge while following their passions. A student-centered program is dependent upon a school librarian assuming a pivotal role in working collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and others direct to the program.
Philosophy
The school library media program in the Radnor Township School District will prepare students for their roles in the technology-driven global community of the 21st century by teaching students to find and use information efficiently and effectively. The library program will help students develop lifelong reading and learning skills and the motivation to take responsibility for their own learning.
