Kids Commons Field Trip

We will be going on a field trip to the Kids Commons tomorrow in the morning. Please look for the permission slip with more details! Thanks in advance for all the parents that have volunteered. We would love some more parent volunteers! Please let us know if you are available AND have a background check on file at the school. We will be leaving the school at 8:30 and leaving the museum to return to school at 11:00.

Lost and Found!

We had a black hooded jacket left behind at the library's red room on Thursday. Please let us know if it might belong to you so that we can get it back to you.

Homework

Last week's homework packet is due on Thursday. New homework will be coming home this Thursday, May 5. This packet will be due May 12th. The last spelling test for the year for these words will be May 13th.

Project Updates

This week we will be preparing for the movie theater business. Students have been placed in their committees and will be hard at work getting things ready for our movie theater on Friday and planning for our businesses. Please be prepared for our concession committee to be asking for donations for ideas to sell.

ELA this week

This week we are making predictions about the text we are reading. We are identifying the clues that helps us make predictions as well as confirming our predictions with text evidence. We are also reviewing homophones, sentence structure, contractions and "aw" sound variations.

Math Goals

I can use a number line to estimate when I measure.

Our students are working on estimating, measuring and using a numberline. This is an important skill for this project. many students are making products to sell or doing a service that they will need to know how to measure and cut.

Logging into Students Accounts

If you would like to see all the hard work your child does at school you can login to their Google account or their Itslearning account from home. Considering winter is just around the corner this is very important to learn how to get around the Google world. Plus this is a great way to help your child. I'm sure they would love to share what they are learning!

Here is the pattern

first two digits are the child's graduating year (which for 2nd graders is 26)

then their last name and first initial

For example itslearning is 26brillr (some of these have different variations if the last name is a common name)

Google example 26brillr@students.bcsc.k12.in.us

Their passwords pattern

Thier six digit student identification plus bcsc

All of the 2nd graders know their regular passwords for the other apps and learning tools but if you need help please feel free to text me on Remind101.
