Home of Fantastic First Graders!
Week of June 15-18
Here's what we are up to during our final few days of school...
Reader's and Writer's Workshop
We will put the finishing touches on our Father's Day projects and memory books to be taken home this week. We will also talk about 'just fit' books and our plans for summer reading. It is very important to continue reading throughout the summer. Students who take the summer off from reading tend to experience "summer slide" and enter into the following year reading at a lower level than when they left school the previous year. Reading just 10 minutes a day will help prevent this AND students tend to read at or above their previous level when they return in the fall.

Thank you so much for reading our newsletter!
It has been an honor and a pleasure working with your children this year. We have all grown so much in first grade, and while I am sad to see them go, I am so happy with and proud of all the progress these students have made. I am confident that they will continue to dazzle their teachers in second grade! Thank you for all of your support and belief in us. We experienced many changes this year (room switches, new math programs, etc.), and I thank you for your patience and understanding. Good luck in second grade and Happy Summer!
