Newsletter Term 2 Week 1
Patumahoe School 4th of May 2022
Principal's Desk
Kia ora parents, caregivers, and extended whanau
Welcome back!! I trust you all had a bit of a break. I managed a wee bit of fishing action, watched a few of the Northern Stars netball games and even got out on the golf course as well.
We will be doing a bit of 'connecting' this week as our tamariki will no doubt have loads of cool holiday stories to share, but this term is all about 'shifting' in our learning. Our kids have got the reading bug back in term 1 thanks to our reading challenge so we want to keep daily home reading a habit. Kotahitanga meetings are next Tuesday and these will give you an understanding of where your child is at and where to next in their learning. Teachers have also planned some very exciting learning units as well. So all is set for a busy and productive term.
Winter sports for the most part is set to get underway this weekend. If you are a parent who has put your hand up for coaching and managing roles, I take my hat off to you. Team sports are so beneficial for our children and it is often taken for granted that kids can simply turn up and play sports. But if it weren't for volunteer parents committing to the rather large task of coaching and managing, then the kids would miss out. Thanks a lot mums and dads.
