A Bench for Caps! by Emily Mellentine
Attention students,
Ms. Thompson has introduced a competition between all PRIDE classes. Bring in plenty of plastic bottle caps. Below are a few examples of what types of caps we can collect:
- Soda Bottles
- Peanut Butter lids
- Laundry Detergent caps
- Milk Bottle caps
The plastic bottle caps collected at FTMS East will be exchanged for a bench made from the collected caps! The contest will be in effect Monday, March 14 through April 29, 2016.
Turn in bottle caps to your PRIDE teacher. The PRIDE class with the most collected caps will win a popcorn party.
For every 400 lbs. of caps collected, we will receive one bench from Green Tree Plastics located in Evansville, IN.

BEast Strong: Upstanders by Haley Fuson
15-80- 10
Only 15% of bystanders intervene.
When they do, they are successful over 80% of the time...
...within the first 10 seconds of the intervention.
Be an UPSTANDER...Not a Bystander.
BEast STRONG is a school wide movement to create an environment where all individuals feel safe
All students and staff have the opportunity to be part of a community of UPSTANDERS.
ď‚· Standing up if you see bulling in action
ď‚· Stop hurtful things from spreading
ď‚· Make friends outside of your circle
ď‚· Make new people feel welcome
ď‚· Respect others differences

FCHS Cheerleading Tryouts
Dear Cheerleading Candidates & Parents/Guardians,
Thank you for your interest in trying out for the 2016-2017 Football Cheer Team at Franklin Central High School. FC appreciates your enthusiasm and interest in the cheer program. This try-out will only be for individuals interested in cheering for football.
This can be a truly rewarding experience, but it also requires a tremendous time commitment. A cheer team member must be willing to practice on her own time to perfect skills. Additionally, a cheer team member must be able to work well with others; as cheerleading is a team sport! Please be aware of this as you prepare to take on the challenges and responsibilities of becoming a cheer member at Franklin Central High School. If you are already committed to many activities both inside and outside of Franklin Central, you may not have the time to take on another activity. Please check out the calendar on the cheer web-site to get a better idea of the commitment, https://sites.google.com/site/franklincentralcheer/ . Please keep in mind the calendar is subject to change.
This packet contains information regarding try-outs and responsibilities if you are chosen to cheer for football season. Please review requirements for try-outs and the score sheet, so you know exactly what will be asked from you. I have also included an estimate of the cost for cheer clothes, shoes, pay to participate, etc.
Please read the following packet carefully and return all other necessary forms to Coach Dirr or Coach Ledbetter by beginning of clinic Monday, May 16th at 5pm. You will not be able to try-out if the form is not turned in by the beginning of the clinic. You may turn paperwork in early to either Coach Dirr or Coach Ledbetter. You must attend the clinic to learn try-out material. The clinic is Monday, May 16 5:00-6:30pm located in Freshman Academy. Try-outs will be held in Freshman Academy Gym at FCHS beginning at 3:30pm on Wednesday, May 18th. You may enter through the Freshman Academy entrance, which is located across from the football stadium.
I will post the list of cheerleaders for basketball season on my web-site, https://sites.google.com/site/franklincentralcheer/ . If you are chosen to become a football cheerleader, you and a parent are required to attend a meeting on Monday, May 23rd at 5:00pm. The meeting will be located in Coach Ledbetter’s classroom, 9217, in the Freshman Academy at FCHS. Each cheerleader will be asked to bring a check for Pay to Participate. The cost for the first season of pay to participate is $200. If you receive free or reduced lunch, you will be eligible for free or reduced pay to participate.
Thank you and good luck!
