Institute Day on October 14 - No School for Students

Monday, October 14, is a district-wide Institute Day. This is a non-attendance day for students. The day will feature professional development and training opportunities for teachers and staff. For the 2019-20 School Year Calendar, CLICK HERE.

Cultural Competencies Presentation - October 16

The District 41 Bilingual Parent Advisory Council will present a session on cultural competencies presented by Woodridge School District 68 English Learners Director Ms. Yadi Alfaro. The presentation will be held at the Central Services Office, 793 N. Main Street in Glen Ellyn, on Wednesday, October 16 from 6-7 p.m. Ms. Alfaro will address perspectives of various cultures, honoring differences, cross-cultural relationship issues, the buddy-system and more.

Spanish Speaking Families Learn about the Transition to Glenbard West

The District 41 Department of Language Programs, with the support of members from Hadley’s “Hola” committee, hosted a successful parent night completely in Spanish this week at Hadley Junior High. Guest speaker, counselor Lissete Ochoa from Glenbard West, presented with Hadley Special Education teacher Mayra Kulik and District 41 Bilingual Parent Liaison Gaby Escobar to help parents of 8th grade students understand and prepare for the transition process of their children to high school.

5th Graders Attend Musical at COD

All District 41 fifth graders attended the Sugar Skull Day of the Dead musical hosted by the College of DuPage in coordination with their Frida Kahlo exhibit. This cultural event was supported by the PTAs from each elementary school and facilitated by the District 41 FLES department as a continued effort to embed the influence and appreciation of the richness found in Hispanic culture. Students had a great time while building their cultural knowledge.

Principals to Model in Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce Winter Showcase Fashion Show

Abraham Lincoln School Principal Sarah Rodriguez and Churchill School Principal Rachel Solomon will be modeling in the 10th Glen Ellyn Winter Showcase Fashion Show on Sunday, November 3. The event will feature a silent auction at 11 a.m., luncheon at noon followed by the Fashion Show, and jewelry drawing beginning at 1 p.m. The guest fashion commentator for the event will be Lisa Parker, Consumer Investigative reporter from NBC5 Chicago. The show is hosted by the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce and will be held at Abbington Distinctive Banquets, 3 South 002 Rte 53 in Glen Ellyn.
