Principal Update
1/13/23
Dear LP Families,
Happy Friday!
We've had another busy week here at LP. Our winter concert season began with 3rd and 4th graders singing their little hearts out for their school community and families. They did an outstanding job thanks to Eric Trumpowsky's musical leadership! We are looking forward to 5th grade performing next week. Also, special thanks to our superintendent, Mary Grow and staff members, Jake Spadoni, Michele Weigel, and Jenn Costello for coming to support the kids! Last but not least, thank you to our families for supporting their children and our music program. I'm not sure what I enjoyed more...the kids singing or seeing the pride and smiles beaming from our families faces?!
We also had an impromptu spirit day this week to not only support the Buffalo Bills, but show some love to our community by donating nonperishable items to the Irondequoit Community Cupboard. I think the world learned a lot from Damar Hamlin, especially to love and take care of one another. This is also the perfect opportunity to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We do not have school Monday, January 16th in observance of his day. Enjoy some of the photos from our spirit day below!
Last thought for this week, please scroll down to read about a significant change we are making to our morning arrival to increase/improve safety. I want to thank you in advance for your flexibility and patience. We cannot compromise the safety of our children.
Have a nice weekend,
Dr. Bello

Weekly Highlights!
Winter Concert Season! Our 3rd and 4th graders did an amazing job performing for their families this week! | We Love Mr. Trumpowsky! A special thanks to our chorus director, Mr. Trumpowsky for putting together an outstanding program. | What's Coriander Chutney?! Our drama club students tried something new...coriander chutney! Their play talks about this condiment and many of the kids had no idea what it was. Mrs. Miller and Ms. Konstantindis brought some in for them to try! |

Arrival- Morning Drop-off!
I was hoping the additional cones and signage would help support a safer morning drop-off but unfortunately we still have vehicles going around cars instead of waiting in line. This jeopardizes the safety of our students.
If you are familiar with picking up your student from school than this will make sense to you! We are going to move drop-off to the same location as pick-up, by the gym doors towards the back of the building. We will still have a single file of cars but I believe this will help keep traffic from backing up to Pardee Rd. with the additional space.
A few things to remember:
*Doors do not open until 8:20am.
*Do not drop your student off early. We do not have supervision until 8:20am.
*Students should wait in your car until you pull up to the gym door. We will unload students one car at a time.
*On average, there are 35 cars during morning arrival. This should not take long once families are used the routine.
*Do not go around other vehicles. You place our kids at risk of being hit by car.
As always, thank you for your continued support in making our procedures as safe as they can be!
