From the Desk of the Principal
Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Guardians,
It’s hard to believe that spring is almost here! As we prepare for the remainder of the school year, please emphasize to students that teaching and learning continues to be the focus at Lesslie. It is important that your child(ren) continue to read daily, practice math skills, write, utilize critical thinking skills, use technology effectively, collaborate with peers and use communication skills to articulate what they are learning etc.
Teachers are charged with teaching state standards to prepare students for the next grade, state testing and to be successful in their endeavors. In order to ensure each child’s success, it is imperative that students are present and on time each day unless there is a family emergency or the child is sick. Students should not be signed out early unless it is an emergency or an appointment that cannot be scheduled after dismissal. I appreciate you supporting us as we strive to help every child achieve at high levels.
A special thank you to our parents, grandparents, and guardians who attended our Math Day on February 16th. I, as well as our staff, feel it is extremely important that parents/guardians and students understand what students are expected to learn and why students are expected to learn the material.
I encourage you to participate in our School Improvement Council (SIC) and/or PTO. The SIC is a broad-based body intended to advise the principal and school and is focused on helping to achieve school improvement. We welcome your input as we strive for continuous improvement.
I hope to see all of our Dads and males who play a significant role in the lives of our students at Doughnuts for Dad on March 23rd.

(Remember, parents come in many forms. If you love a child unconditionally and take care of that child then you are a parent.)

From The Rock Hill School Districts Food Services Dept:
From the School Nurse:
I do want to remind you of some of the policies we have in place that need to be followed more closely by each of you. Please keep in mind, these policies are set by DHEC, not myself or the school.
-24 hour fever free, without fever reducing medication, before a child can return to school. Please honor this for your own child and the well being of other children in your student's classroom.
-48 hour classroom snacks notice is not currently being followed. Please notify the teacher ahead of time when planning to bring a treat or special snack for your child's classroom. We have several classrooms with allergies and this policy is vital to maintain the safety and health of students with allergies.
-Chronic issues, such as head lice, are common. However, it is treatable and we do have a protocol in place. If your child is found to have head lice, I need proof of treatment before I can allow them to re-enter the classroom. Most treatments, not all, but most, require a second treatment 7-10 days after the initial one. Please follow this protocol.
Again, it's a pleasure to serve, encourage and interact with your children. Feel free to contact me with questions or concerns.Winthrop Back the Pack Basketball Game
