Using film to Show Students the World
BYkids believes that we can understand the world’s challenges — and how to best meet them — through the personal stories of young people.
BYkids is a global movement that uses storytelling through film to inform, engage and inspire action.
BYkids provides kids around the world with the training and the video cameras to make short documentaries about their lives. Renowned filmmakers mentor these young people in the art of filmmaking.

Free Write using Images from the book Overdevelopment, Overpopulation, Overshoot
Please preview and carefully select pictures to use with students. There are some very intense photos that will vary in use depending on the age of your students.
Using pictures from the book: OVERDEVELOPMENT, OVERPOPULATION, OVERSHOOT Allow students time to free write for 10-12 minutes. A really special activity to talk about different countries, biases, cultures, etc.
This book contains powerful and evocative images showing the ecological and social tragedies of humanity’s ballooning numbers and consumption. It retails for $50, but as part of Speak Out you can request free books to use raising awareness about these important and urgent issues.
