Why are australians at high risk?

Australians are at a higher risk than many other countries because we are a very outdoors kind of country. Whether it is at the local footy, down at the beach, or just having a BBQ with friends, we are spending a lot of time in the sun. Many people think that they won't get skin cancer so they don't bother to put on sun screen. But they dot know that everyone can get skin cancer no matter what colour skin, or hair, or eyes you can still get skin cancer. Although if you are a very pale skin colour you have to be extremely careful in the sun as you are at a higher risk than someone with tan/darker skin.

What can you do about it?

If you think you may have skin cancer do not Hesitate to go to your nearest Skin cancer centre or Doctor, where you can get the spot checked over along with any other spots. If the specialist is worried about your spot or mole they can give you a biopsy and also have all other moles recorded so when a new mole or spot appears it can be checked over straight away.
