Facts about the Bengal Bay

Being roughly triangular in shape occupying an area of 2,172,000km sq., the Bay of Bengal is the biggest bay in the world. It was formed by India crashing into Southern Asia as a result of continental drift, which also created the Himalayas. As seen in this map, the Bay is located in Southern Asia, making it a very popular tourist spot for anyone visiting West India. The Bay also has a copious amount of tropical fish species, because of the mangroves and numerous rivers draining into it. The length of one side of the Bay to the other is approximately 1,600 kilometers, meaning a lot of space to enjoy the sea. The Bengal Bay is also a part of the Indian Ocean.
