Science Research Program
Maine Township H.S. District 207 STEM Initiative
What is the Science Research Program?
This program will help students:
- Develop skills in proper experimental procedures and techniques
- Improve scientific writing, research, and presentation through practice
- Understand real-world applications of research and experimentation
- Get excited and invested in their work
What Students Will the SRP Reach?
The program is meant to excite students to their academic curiosities in the STEM fields. Whether a student wants to begin research in a field they hope to pursue in higher education or they wish to study a disease that affected someone in their family, this program aims to invest students in their education and provide them support while delving in to a topic that sparks their interest.
How Will the SRP Operate?
After this initial period, the course will continue throughout the school year, but take place outside of school hours, giving students access to all other core curriculum courses. In total, students will receive at least 300 contact hours with teachers and members of relevant professional communities. The course will conclude with a paper/presentation on the topic, and, if applicable, entrance into competitions or scientific journals.
How Can We Help?
Currently, our primary focus is gaining the necessary financial support. Once we are able to do this, we hope to reach out to the professional community to solicit donations for time for our students to collaborate with individuals or groups from relevant fields.
If you are willing and able to provide support to our program, or have any questions, please use the contact information at the bottom of this page to reach us.
