Special Dates

On Friday, October 6; and Monday, October 9, we will have student holidays. The students will not be in school on those days. Enjoy your extra long 4 day weekend!

GES Fall Carnival

This it the last week to turn in GES Auction items. All items are due on THURSDAY OCTOBER 5TH and we need your help! We are asking each family to contribute something for our themed baskets to make this the most successful auction yet! Collection boxes are now in your child's classroom. Just send them to school with their items to be placed in the box. (Please note, donations of wine/beer cannot be dropped off at the school. Please contact your coordinator to arrange for pick up). We will be at the school collecting all donations Thursday, October 5th at 1:00 pm.

We ask that you please use the sign up to let us know what you'll be contributing so that we can plan accordingly. There are still plenty of open spots to sign up here: Auction Sign Up

The grade with the most successful baskets at auction will win a Pajama Day from Mrs. Hilcher! Let's help our kiddos win the competition! If you have any questions, please contact our Auction Coordinator:

We will go to the library every Tuesday and Friday to return and checkout books, one of those days will also include a story time with our librarian, Mrs. Wahpekeche. Remember that library books may be sent in at any time. We have a special collection basket for them in our room. However, we will only have one library visit this week due to no school on Friday.

Coach Lara and Mrs. Kittle would like for all students to wear closed toe and rubber soled shoes (ie 'tennis' shoes) when in the gym. Our PreK students go to the gym every day.

Remember that parents can and may want to place restrictions on their child's lunch account. For example, parents may decide to have one designated day as a "treat day." By law, the cafeteria staff, Mrs. Kittle, Mrs. Finch, or any other teacher may not tell a student what to or what not to buy. The Pre-K teachers are noticing that ice cream is being bought frequently by some and that not much else is being eaten but the treat. Please stop by the cafeteria or call or email Stacy Haugh, our Cafeteria Manager, at or 817-251-5734 to place limits, etc. on your child's lunch choices.

Remember to follow us on Twitter @GESFinch. Each week, I share a snapshot of how we are learning in Pre-K.

Fall Conferences

Pre-K parents will be invited for a Parent/Teacher conference during the week of Oct 30. This is a change from my original target date of the week of Sept. 25. I apologize for any inconvenience, but changes were made after meeting with the district's Pre-K team last week. It has been decided that at the Pre-K level, we will have a traditional Parent/Teacher conference on Nov 2 instead of a student-led conference and then launch the student-led conferences in the spring. In order for me to meet with all parents by Nov. 2nd, I will begin scheduling conferences the week of Oct. 30. During our visit, I will share with you beginning of the year assessment information, our report card, and behavior observations. Please let me know If you have any concerns and would like to meet via phone or in person before then.

Label Items

Please take the time to label ALL of your child's personal items. This will hopefully ensure that all of your things return home to you each day. Please write first and last names, or first initial and last name, on backpacks, lunch boxes, jackets, sweaters, and hats (when weather gets cooler).
