Still S'more News
from Ms. Sullivan's Class
LOTS AND LOTS OF UPDATES
1. There will not be any spelling homework this week. Mrs. Servant and I will be updating the lists over vacation to more closely match them to our phonics program.
2. Our holiday party will be Wednesday. Boys can bring the juice/paper goods and the girls can provide the snacks.
3. Due to the school cancellation on Friday, our performance of Twas The Night Before Christmas will be held Wednesday, December 23, at 2:15.
UPCOMING MATH AND READER'S WORKSHOP TOPICS
We have started our unit on place value. Students will be working with numbers up to 1000! Please continue to add in nightly math fact practice.
We are continuing to work on Monitoring for Meaning during Reader's Workshop. Students have learned they have two very important jobs as a reader; Read the Words and Understand the Words. We will be working on what a reader can do when he/she is having trouble with one/both of the jobs.
LOOKING FOR OUR FIRST BOOK TO SHARE
If you and your child have a particular book or series that you would like to review or "sell", please write a short paragraph along with the title and author's name and I will share it with everyone in a future S'more newsletter.
CHRISTMAS VACATION
I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and hope you all have a safe and relaxing holiday break. I will not be assigning any written homework over the break. I want you to enjoy cuddling with your child and a good book as often as you can. See you all in 2016!
