QOW: Quotes of the Week!
- "I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed." —Michael Jordan
- "Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time." —Thomas A. Edison
- "And all the lives we ever lived and all the lives to be are full of trees and changing leaves..." Virginia Woolf
- "Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go." Unknown

Out Of This World
This week in Miss McGroarty's first grade class, we continued our exploration of outer space in Science. We focused on the moon. We read numerous books, both fiction and non-fiction about the moon. We learned that the moon is 4 billion years old and even discussed the very first moon landing! Today we capped off our learning by reading "The Moon Book" by Gail Gibbons and learned all about the moon's different phases. We even did a science project all together creating each phase of the moon with Oreos! After a long week of learning, ending our week with a sweet science project was truly out of this world!
Fire Safety Week
In Library this week, at Davenport Primary, the students learned about fire safety with Mrs. Cavileer. The students listened to a story called, "No Dragons for Tea" by Jean Pendizwol and then discussed important fire safety tips that they should use. The students then drew a picture of a fire safety tip and shared them with their class. Students were able to record themselves using Flipgrid to share their pictures and fire tips with our school. We had fun while learning about something very important!
