Kramer PTA August 2018 - English Version

August 20th will be here before you know it!

We are less than two weeks away from the first day of school, August 20, 2018. Thank you to the families who came out for our first PTA Meeting, Monday night. We had a great turn out! And it was fun catching up with the moms after the meeting at dinner. If you did not have a chance to join us, we would love to see you at our next event.

Student Handbook 2018-2019

The Student Handbook is intended to be a resource for parents. Have you ever wondered about how to report student absences, the tardy policy, behavior expectations, uniforms and so much more. You can find all the answers to your questions in the Student Handbook. It is available online and in the printed school calendar that will be available to all families at Meet the Teacher.

Take a look at the exciting new spirit wear online. We have Kramer polos, glitter t-shirts, Kramer socks and new t-shirt designs. Place your order now and we will have it ready for pick up in the auditorium at Meet the Teacher, August 16. Remember you can wear a spirit shirt or college shirt on Fridays with your uniform bottom.


Athletics

Online registration is now open for soccer, flag football and volleyball. Deadline to register is August 10. The YMCA has requested our rosters before the first day of school. Cost is $30 to play and $15 for the jersey. We always need coaches and cannot form a team until a coach has volunteered. A benefit of coaching is your little one's registration fee is waived! Please direct your questions or your desire to coach to kramerathletics@gmail.com.

Kramer Spirit Night at Modern Market

Join us for our Back to School SPIRIT NIGHT at Modern Market (next to Trader Joe’s) on TUESDAY, AUGUST 14th from 5-8pm! Modern Market will generously donate 50% (yes, half!) of all proceeds to the Kramer PTA. It’s a terrific opportunity to reconnect with school friends, meet new Kramer families and raise money for our school. Make sure to mention this fundraiser when ordering!

Meet the Teacher

August 16

5-6 pm

Classroom assignments will be posted at the front of the school then come inside to meet your teacher. This is a come and go event from 5-6 pm. Don't forget to stop by the auditorium for spirt wear, the PTA table and more.

Volunteers Needed

Here are four ways you can help Kramer get off to a fabulous start this year.


1. School Supply Packs Classroom Deliveries August 17

9 am Kramer Auditorium

We need your help in delivering school supply packs to the classrooms. This usually takes us a couple of hours to deliver everything. We can definitely use the extra hands. No need to sign up, meet us in the auditorium Friday morning, stay for an hour or stay until we are finished. Any help is appreciated!


2. Boo Hoos and Yahoos Parent Breakfast, August 20th Bianca Noble is organizing this event for us and has asked for help to set up, bring food or take down. If you have any questions email her at bnbl4@yahoo.com

3. Morning Carpool Helpers/Dads and Doors August 21-September 7 Kramer can use your help with morning carpool. Volunteers will help keep the carpool line running smoothly, open car doors and direct children to the front entrance. Shifts are from 7:15am to 7:50am each day.

4. Auditorium Helpers August 21-24. Let's help our littlest Kramer Colts in the auditorium during their first week of school. Volunteers will be stationed at the front entrance to help the PreK, Kinder and 1st Graders find their classroom spot in the auditorium. Shifts are 7:15am - 7:40am. Volunteers are limited to parents of 1st - 5th graders. We also ask that you be VOLY cleared for the 2018-2019 school year. VOLY instructions can be found at dallasisd.voly.org. Student Enrollment

All students must be enrolled online for the 2018-19 school year. Go to https://dallasisd.powerschool.com/public/home.html to enroll your student. Any enrollment issues can be resolved by talking with Ms. Padilla or by calling the Online Enrollment Helpdesk.

First Day of School and Boo Hoos and Yahoos Parent Breakfast

August 20

Welcome 2018-2019 School Year! This morning you can walk your child into the school beginning at 7:15 am. For the FIRST DAY only, parents are welcome to come inside the building and wait with their child in their waiting area: PK-1st in the auditorium, 2nd-4th in the gym, and 5th grade in the cafeteria. The teachers will pick up the students at 7:35 am to take them to their classroom. You area welcome to escort your child to the classroom. Parents are invited to attend our BooHoo/YaHoos breakfast in the Learning Lab at this time (more details below), or otherwise exit the campus, so our students can begin the new school year!



After drop off, join us in the Learning Lab, the portable building next to the cafeteria for coffee and pastries. You maybe team Boo Hoo or team Yahoo or maybe a combination of both but join us, we would love to see you. We ask that you do not exit the campus through the building. No one will be allow back into the school building. Thank you for making the first day of school a great one for our students.

Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures

August 21

7:15-7:45 am Drop Off

First day of carpool! The new carpool procedures will begin on August 21 at 7:15 am. Carpool will be open until 7:45 am when the tardy bell rings. The new procedures streamline drop off to one location, the front of the school. We ask that you "drop and go" in the carpool line, the driver cannot exit the car. Or you can also walk your child to the front door, please park along St. Judes or Tunica and walk your child to the front door. The PreK/Kinder door will not be open for drop off. If you arrive after 7:45am you will need to park and walk your child to the front door.

3:00 pm Pick Up

All the students will be dismissed at 3:00 pm. Those who ride the bus, or are part of a partner after-school program will be escorted to the front of the school for dismissal. Car riders will be dismissed at various exits, depending on their grade: PreK/Kinder on St. Judes, 1st on Tunica (through the playground), 2nd/3rd on Tunica (near Mason Dells), 4th/5th grade on Mason Dells. If there are siblings leaving together, the older student will be dismissed at the exit of the younger sibling. There is no carpool at dismissal, so parents will have to park their car and walk up to the teacher to get their students. At 3:06, all students who have not been picked up will the sent to the Attendance office where parents will be asked to sign them out.

Let's Celebrate the First Week of School

Thank goodness it is Friday! The Kona Ice Truck will be parked near the playground on Friday, August 24th at 3:00pm. They will have their ice treats for purchase, with a portion of the sales returned back to Kramer. Prices range from $2-$4. Come on out support Kramer and celebrate the first week of school. Hope to see you on the playground!

School Breakfast and Lunch

The Dallas ISD Food & Child Nutrition Services Dept. offers healthy meals, every school day at NO CHARGE for every student. Breakfast in the Classroom begins each morning at 7:35. Lunch schedules vary by grade level. Visit http://dallasisd.nutrislice.com/ to view the daily menu and download the Nutrislice app on your phone. You can still choose to send your own nutritious sack lunch for your student. For the first three weeks, we ask that parents NOT have lunch with their child to help establish proper lunch procedures and expectations.

Carnival Meeting

Colt Parent Orientation

August 30

5-7:30pm

Come and hear from your child's teacher about classroom expectations, plans, how you can help and much more. No children, please. Specific times for each grade level will be coming in August.
