Goal Setting
Academic Goal
S- I want to graduate with honors in grade 12.
M- I will keep track of my marks in all my classes by asking my teachers for mark updates. I will ask all my teachers every month for a mark update. If my teachers do not have a mark update for me or they are not willing to give it to me, I will go through all the test and assignments we did each month and calculate my mark using those. Doing these two things will let me know where I am at and what my average is at that time.
A- I must work really hard and put my best in to assignments and other work. I need to work hard on everything I do in all my classes because that is the only way that I will get high marks and be able to reach my goal. I must not get lazy and hand in work that I know is bad quality and that I know I am going to do bad on. I need to only hand in work that I am proud of and that I know I am going to do well on. My strengths are that I am very hardworking and motivated. I know that when I want to achieve something that I will work really hard to achieve it and I will be really motivated to do so. I will put all my a lot of effort into all my work and work really hard on it because I want to achieve a high mark. I will be really be motivated because I know that graduating with honors is a requirement for most good universities. Most good universities require for the student to have at least an 86% average and honors is just and 80% average. Achieving this goal will guide me to getting an 86% average. I will be motivated with this because I will want to do good so I can get into a good university and live and good life. My weakness is that I am very lazy. I will get very lazy when I am doing my work and just say that what I did is good enough even though I know it is very bad and I will probably get a bad grade on it. Even though I am hardworking and motivated, I will sometimes become lazy and say that I could just do good on the next assignment and just do bad on the current one. This will cause my mark in that class to drop and this will ultimately make me not be able to reach my goal.
R- I believe that this goal is achievable. This is because I know that when I put my mind to it and work hard I will be able to do it. In grade 9 I had a 78% average because I didn't try that much. This year I tried a lot more and worked a lot harder and my average is 86% as of now from both semester. This just goes to show you that when I put my mind to it and work hard that I can do it. I think that also I will be able to reach my goal because in grade 12 I will have a lot more pressure from my family and from myself to do good so I can get into a good university. I really work good under pressure because it motivates me to do good. I believe that this goal is 100% doable. This goal is important because graduating with honors (80% or higher average) is the basic requirement to get into a decent university. I will need at least a 86% average to get into a good university and this goal is guiding me to get the 86% average to get into a good university. I want to go to a good university so that I can get a good job and live a nice life.
T- I plan on graduating with honors. I will set mark goals for each class that I should be able to meet. I will set these mark goal based on how easy or hard I think that course is and what mark I think I should be able to get in that course. I will be motivated to meet these smaller goals and in turn this will make me achieve my final goal.
Volunteer Goal
S- By the end of first semester of grade 12, I want to have to have 30 more volunteer hours completed.
M- I will track that I get 30 more volunteer hours by writing down how many hours I complete each day. I will note down the time when I begin my hours and when I finish them for each day. I will calculate how many hours I did that day and this will help me know how many more hours I have to do. If I forget to write down my start and stop times, I can ask the person at the place that I am volunteering at for this information.
A- I must not be lazy and just decide not to go volunteer. I can take some days off if I have too much homework or I am busy with something else. This does not mean that I should just be lazy and say that I will go tomorrow, I must go each day that I have time if I wish to achieve my goal. My strengths are that I am determined to achieve this goal. I look at the bigger picture in life and I know that I will have to finish this many hours by this time to look good for universities. Universities look at how many volunteer hours the applicant has and how involved they are with their community. If I wish to get into a good university I need to complete a fairly decent amount of volunteer hours and I can’t just do the minimum of 40 hours that are required. I already have 37 hours and this will get me up to 67 hours which is a good amount to get into a good university. I want to complete all my hours by this time because this is the time when I will apply to universities and I want these hours to show up on my transcript so the universities can see them. I will keep this all in my mind and it will make me more motivated to complete my goal. My weakness is that I will sometimes get lazy and say that I will go tomorrow or that I have this summer and another years to complete my hours. Even though I am determined to achieve my goal, I will sometimes get lazy and not want to go and get my hours. This will make me not be able to reach my goal or it will really slow me down in reaching my goal.
R- I really believe that I can achieve this goal. This is because I have about 1 years left to achieve my goal. If I go and volunteer for at least 30 minutes a day, I will be able to reach my goal in less than 3 months. I know that for the days that I go volunteer, I will go for at least 2 hours, so I feel that this goal is very doable. I also have the summer to complete my goal. In the summer I am going to take summer school for the first month and then the second month I am free to complete my hours. In the summer I can go and volunteer for 6 hours each day like I did last summer, so this goal is defiantly doable. This goal is important because this is a requirement to get into a good university. I really want to go to university so I can get a good job and live a good life.
T- I plan on getting these 30 additional volunteer hours by the end of first semester of grade 12. The smaller goal I will set for myself to achieve my final goal is, I will set a minimum number of hours that I have to complete each week. This will make me motivated to reach my final goal because I have some assurance that if I achieve my weekly goal that I will be able to reach my final goal.

Challenges and Solutions
Traumas
Lawyers encounter many challenges throughout the job. One example of these challenges is that being a lawyer causes traumas. Lawyers have to work with many clients that have faced very traumatic events. These clients have to share these events with their lawyer so that the lawyer can better understand the situation and better help serve the client. An example of these traumatic events can be that the client has witnessed a brutal murder. This will cause the lawyer to keep thinking about the situation and what happened. This can mentally damage them. There are many solution to this challenge. One of them would be that the lawyer can talk to loved ones when they get home from work. This will really lift a weight of the lawyer’s chest. The lawyer can talk to their loved ones every day after work for as long as they need. If this does not work for the lawyer, then they can start to go and talk to a therapist every day after work. A therapist can really make them feel better because they will just share their problems with the therapist and the therapist can help them find a way to fix their problems. The lawyer should go to the therapist for as long as they need too.
Being Perfect
Lawyers are required to be perfect when it comes to their work. Lawyers cannot afford to make mistakes because it will cost their clients a lot of money and/or other valuable things. A lawyer's mistake can cost their client thousands or even millions of dollars. Also if a lawyer makes a mistake they can cost a client's freedom, custody of a child or other things that they cannot buy and that are valuable. These consequences motivate lawyers not to make mistakes and they keep these consequences at the back minds. Lawyers can overcome this challenge by breathing and relaxing when they think that they are going to make a mistake or they are getting worried. This will relax the lawyer's mind and this will cause them to be able to think clearly and come up with a solution or come back. The lawyer can also try and play off the mistake. They should try not to stutter and stop when they get stuck. They should try to play it off and either say a random answer or try to change the question or topic.
Addiction
Lawyers can very easily become addiction to substances such as alcohol when on the job. This is because when a lawyer gets called over to a client house to discuss detailed of a case, the client may offer them a drink. The lawyer needs to accept the drink so that they can bond with the client especially if the client is drinking as well. This can cause the lawyer to become addicted to alcohol. Also when a client has a party for the win of the case, they will invite their lawyer. There will most likely be alcohol there and the lawyer make have a few drinks with the clients and this can start to develop their addiction for alcohol. The lawyer again will drink the alcohol with their client so that they can build a bond with them and so that this client will chose the same lawyer for any other legal troubles that they may have later on. The lawyer can overcome this addiction by going to rehab. They will learn here how to live without their addiction and how to not do their addiction anymore. They can also go too talked to loved ones about their addiction and their loved ones may be able to help them overcome it.
Ruin Family and Social Life
Lawyers work very long hours and this can really damage their social and family life. Lawyers work between 75-80 hours in a 5 day week and work between 30-32 on the weekends when they have a big case. Luckily most lawyers only have a few really big cases that require this much time throughout the year. Working this much does not leave them much time for other activities because when they get home they are usually very tired and go to sleep. This will cause them to damage/ruin their social life and family life because they have no time for their family and friends. There are not many solutions to this challenge, but one would be to spend time with family and friends after big cases. After each big case a lawyer should go out and have a fun time with their friends and family. This will build/repair their social and family life and it will show their friends and family that they do love them and they like to spend time with them. Lawyers can also cherish the time that they get with their friends and family. Lawyers should make the most of the time that they get to spend with their friends and family because when they have big cases they won't be able to spend time with them for a couple of weeks. They should do things that they enjoy doing with their friends and family and this will allow them to make most of their time with friends and family.
