OCTOBER 2021
HISPANIC/LATINX HERITAGE MONTH
"Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15." GETTING PERSONAL WITH THE PERSONNEL

GET TO KNOW THE NEW BERGEN TECH TEACHERS
Mr. Thomas Moogan
Hello BT community! My name is Thomas Moogan and I currently teach Geometry, Math Analysis II, and Calculus. I received my bachelor's degree from Rutgers University and my master's degree from Ramapo college of New Jersey and have been teaching in New Jersey for 7 years. I have also coached soccer for the past 6 years and coached track and field for 5 years. I love to snowboard in the winter and travel as often as possible. I also just got a puppy cockapoo named Theo and he is adorable!
Ms. Stella Mimidas
Hello BT community! My name is Stella Mimidas and I am English teacher, currently working with 9th and a small group of 11th graders. I was born in Thessaloniki, Greece and moved to the U.S. when I was in the second grade so English is actually not my first language, and my favorite subject for the longest time was actually math. I graduated from The College of New Jersey and completed my Master's at Rutgers University, where I enjoyed studying about narratives of migration, exile, or other forms of transnationalism and how that appears in the language of a work. I have been teaching for 10 years at Newark public schools, but I'm excited to be joining you all now. I recently adopted a cat whose name is El Professor Sergio Dorito, named after the Money Heist character; he just seems like a mastermind. I love travelling, whether that is physically, or through reading a great book, so if you have any great recommendations, let me know.
Mr. Kevin Lin
Hi everyone! My name is Kevin Lin and I grew up in Bergen County. I graduated from Rutgers University and have taught for three years before coming to BT! I also actually graduated from BT back in 2013 and majored in Commercial Art and Graphic Design (Comm. Art represent!). In my free time, I like to play videogames and pretend to be active from the comfort of my couch. I'm excited for the new year and to get to know everyone!
