Fire Truck Visit

On Tuesday we had a special visit from the Plymouth Fire Department. The firefighters allowed the students to walk through the fire truck and then gave a demonstration showing all of the gear that they wear in case of a real fire. The firefighters were so kind, giving high fives to students and helping them to feel more comfortable when seeing a firefighter dressed in full gear and an oxygen mask. The students really enjoyed fire safety week!

Early Hominids

6th-grade students of Mrs. White and Mrs. Burkhead broke into groups, researched one of five different hominids, became experts, and then taught their classmates about their hominid. Mrs. White loved that the students became teachers. Bridget's favorite is Homo sapiens sapiens because it is the closest to us. Hannah likes Australopithecus afarensis because it was one of the first hominids found; the fossils were named Lucy after the Beatles song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. Making life-sized posters of hominids was Danielle's favorite part.
