Reading/ Math Curriculum
We are beginning the month reviewing reading stamina and proper independent/partner reading behaviors. Over the next two months, I expect many children to transition from yellow to 1G (green) books. However, this will not happen if power words are not practiced at home. We have been practicing them daily at school but it is not enough. The first roughly 25 power words were sent home in the report card envelop. If you are in need of more, let me know. It is very important that these be a part of nightly reading- even if you only focus on 4-5 words at a time. Thanks for your help!
We have about 8-9 more lessons in math relating to teen numbers and partners that make up a number (6=4+2, 5=3+2). You've probably noticed basic facts on many workbook pages. While students are not expected to memorize addition and subtraction facts, five or less, many will begin to remember them as we continually practice.
