Women in STEM Speaker Series
I have some exciting news! This year, our students will be able to participate in a number of Women in STEM video conferences. YWPN has provided this opportunity for all network schools to participate via Zoom. Each session will be held once a month on a Thursday at 11 a.m. In order to vary our student audience, we will treat this opportunity much like an on-campus field trip. Any student who has been selected or recommended by teachers to attend will be responsible for making up work they would miss while participating in the session.
This first opportunity will be reserved for 40 HS students. If you are interested in having your class participate or recommending students who may benefit, please let me know via e-mail by the end of the day on Tuesday, September 10th. Please see the bio for our first speaker below.
Agustina Sartori Odizzio - Founder of GlamST (just sold her company to Ulta Beauty) Notes: Great success story of selling her company to Ulta Beauty but it wasn’t an easy road for her to get there. She is a very honest speaker and shares her story of success with many. Agustina is the CEO and Founder of GlamST, a Virtual Makeup Platform designed for beauty brands and retailers that allows women to try on makeup from anywhere, anytime. Agustina is originally from Uruguay and an Endeavor entrepreneur who recently sold her company to Ulta Beauty.
General Information
GRADES:
As we enter our 4th week, please make sure your Gradebooks are updated. We have many who need to add grades at this time. Per board policy, students and parents need to be informed/updated each week about progress. I am attaching the link to policy regarding Gradebooks as a reminder for this year.
*Please note that pretests given to assess prior knowledge should be given to inform instruction. Student should not be penalized with a failing grade earned on an assessment that had no prior instruction in the class.
BULLETIN BOARDS:
School tours and visits will begin to pick up very soon. Student work and other displays give a more welcoming feel to the environment. Please assist by updating any empty boards in the hallway with student work or other displays. Let us know if you need assistance.
SLO:
Please make sure you are selecting your TEK(s) or standards to be addressed on your SLO. The pre-assessments should be given soon. This deadline will creep up on us before we know it. All SLOs need to be submitted to your appraiser in Cornerstone by September 27th.
Common Assessments:
Remember: Common assessments are to be done online this year. You will not longer need to print your answer documents. Please make sure you are on track for covering all TEKS that will be assessed on the CA. Data will be shared across magnet schools to look for trends and strengths. Ms. Greene can assist with any questions you may have.
Compliance Videos are now available!
Look Forward PLCs
Ms. Huitt has asked that we share some artifacts across schools, to share with each other. I have gathered a few from the meetings I have attended, but please drop some in the Google folder I am sharing to add to the collection. Artifacts can include pictures, agenda samples, Know/Show charts, minutes, etc.
Thank you for your contributions to improving instruction!
