Altavesta's Literacy Night Carnival

Our All-Star Carnival was a great success!!! Thank you to all of our families for attending and participating in the games and activities! Our All-Stars enjoyed literacy-based carnival games from ring toss and bean bag toss to a duck pond featuring sight words. Families also enjoyed a photo booth, face painting and book bingo! Thank you to our Title 1 Interventionist, Patty Raucci, for organizing such a fun night!

Happy Memorial Day!

Thank you to our Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade students for hosting a beautiful Memorial Day assembly! The songs were sung with enthusiasm and the poems were recited with pride! Thank you also to veteran, Mr. Bob Davis for explaining the importance of Memorial Day and sharing the meaning behind poppies and coins. Thank you to our wonderful Masters of Ceremony, Blanca and Luke!

AFTER THE BELL ~ 2023-2024 School Year CHANGES!

Our After the Bell program through the Boys and Girls Club will be making small changes for next school year. This program is free and is held at the Altavesta from 2:50 -5:00pm. Kindergarten students will attend for two days on Mondays and Wednesdays, first graders will attend for two days on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and second, third, fourth, and fifth graders will be able to attend any of the four days for up to four days. This program will be starting the first week of October 2023 and returning members will be offered available slots prior to new members.

Cori Forms

Don't wait until June to file or renew your CORI form so you can volunteer at Altavesta events! CORIs take significantly less time for turnaround now vs. the busy volunteer season at the end of the school year. Fill out the form below and bring your license to Mrs. Puleo in the office. If you have any questions, call the office or email mpuleo@woburnps.com.

Dress Code

As the weather is getting nicer, I would like to remind families of the dress code as outlined by the Elementary Handbook, "Clothing that is too revealing is inappropriate in a school setting. Students will use good judgment regarding appropriate attire in school." This would include midriff (half) shirts, crop tops and short skirts as well as inappropriate footwear such as open toe sandals, flip flops or slides.

Free Webinars for Parents

Y.E.S. ~ Youth Engaged in Service

Students who participate in the Y.E.S. program may do so in a variety of ways. Younger children may help a neighbor rake leaves or shovel for no pay, participate in a walk-a-thon, or hold a lemonade stand and donate the proceeds to charity. They can also do chores around the house for money, which they can then donate to charity. Participants need to work to make the community a better place. Altavesta parents are encouraged to have their children participate in the program. There will be some opportunities offered through the school, but if you need additional help finding a project, please call the office at (781) 937-8235.

Students participating in this program should keep track of their own hours using the form below. Any child accumulating 50 hours by May of grade 5 will receive a special medallion during our move-up ceremony.
