East High School Summer School Details
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Recently, Dr. Gausman announced plans for summer school. As a parent/guardian of a child who was in Algebra or Principles of Algebra and Geometry at East High School, you are receiving this message to provide more details about the upcoming summer school program. Please plan to have your child attend.
The school closures at the end of last school year resulted in lost instructional time. The summer school program is dedicated to helping students learn critical information that was missed and to revisit important lessons that are key to success in the upcoming school year. The academic focus is for students who were in Algebra and Principles of Algebra and Geometry (PAG). Your student needs a strong understanding for the next level of Math.
When
Summer school will be held August 3 – August 14. Attendance for each grade level or course is split in half. Students with last names beginning with A-M will attend class from 8:30-10:30. Students with last names beginning N-Z will attend summer school from 11:00-1:00.
Preparing for Summer School
Your child’s safety and well-being is a high priority. As an extra safety measure, students and staff will be expected to bring a mask or shield to school daily. During movement outside of the classroom, such as walking in the hallway to different classes, students and staff will be expected to wear a mask or shield. Students are encouraged to bring their own mask or shield to school.
The only school supplies needed for summer school are pencils. All other materials will be provided.
Transportation will be available for all students. Each school has several identified bus stops where students can board the bus for school. If you would like to have your child ride the bus, please plan to have your child get on and off the bus at the stop closest to your home. See below for the bus schedule for East High School.
In the weeks ahead, I will be sending you more timely updates, including details about meal distribution. Meals will be provided to all students.
Students will report to the Media Center the first day for directions and computer checkout.
Our educators are ready to help your child succeed. Thank you for partnering with us in your child’s education. If you have any questions, please contact me at toddr@live.siouxcityschools.
Sincerely,
Richard O. Todd
East High School
Principal
