AVID Back To School Night

09/07/2018

Big picture

Welcome!

Greetings from Capital High School and I trust this communication finds all well with you and your family as we start the 2018-2019 school year.

Please accept this as a personal invitation to our Capital High School Back-To-School Night, September 10, 2018. Capital’s AVID elective teachers (Mr. Kohlmeier, Mrs. Barrier, and Mr. Twiss) wanted to start the school year with a meet and greet directly after you have visited your student's 7th-period teacher.

We wanted to extend the invitation to join us in a supportive role as we prepare for an amazing year with you and your AVID student. The meet and greet will begin at 8:05 in the cafeteria and refreshments will be provided for parents and their AVID student. During this time you will have the ability to talk with your student’s teacher about this year’s goals and upcoming events.

The official Back-To-School Night program will get underway promptly at 6:00 PM in the auditorium where you will receive an introduction from our principal Sandy Winters. Following a short introduction, you will then head off to the period 1 class of your student. Our Counseling Department will be available in their offices from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. to answer questions if necessary.

Classes will be ten minutes in duration, where faculty members will provide you with insights on the objectives and expectations of each course. Students and faculty members will assist you in locating the appropriate rooms, with a five minute passing time between periods.

Attached is a black schedule form for your student to note their classes, periods and locations. In addition, we hope you can make it at 8:05 PM in the cafeteria directly after the event to enjoy a refreshment as a thank you for being part of our AVID program at Capital.

Thank you in advance for your continued support and we look forward to meeting you.

Respectfully,

Khris Kohlmeier (AVID 10), Kristin Barrier (AVID 11), and Brett Twiss (AVID 12 and Coordinator)
