WE Learn, Work & Grow
April 16, 2021 Edition
Message from WE Administration
I hope all is well. What an outstanding week! Thank you to everyone who participated in our Military Spirit Week in honor of the Month of the Military Child. The turnout was fantastic.
The highlight of the week was Thursday, which was "Purple Up Day." Purple is the color that represents the melding together of each branch of the United States Armed Forces. Given 85% of our student body is military-affiliated, WE dressed in purple to honor the sacrifices our military students (and families) make everyday. Also, we want to extend a special thanks to our PTSO who bought 600 purple leis to ensure every student received one this week. Thank you!
In other news, thank you to those students who completed last week's survey. Congrats to 5th grader, Leilani G., who shared A Night Divided was her favorite book.
Lastly, we want to thank Mrs. White, one of our amazing 1st grade teachers, for participating in our Faculty Feature and for our students reading poetry. Check it out below.
Have a great weekend!

Faculty Feature - Mrs. White - 1st Grade
Hello and Aloha,
My name is Tammy White. I am a first grade teacher and grade level chair here at Wheeler. Currently my hobbies include writing papers and studying as I graduate this month with my Masters in Elementary Education. After spending years on my Reading and ESOL (English to Speakers of other Languages) Endorsements, I finally dedicated time to a long desired goal. I look forward now to spending time on other hobbies such as hiking, yoga, beach going and some fun new ones!
The video below shows how her and other first grade classes build a community based on kindness, respectfulness, resilience and perseverance. To me this is the embodiment of our mission philosophy at WE for which I am grateful to be a part.
