All Things SLI
Silver Lake Intermediate Nov. 6, 2020
SLI Families:
In addition to thanking our wonderful staff, hats off to our students as well! There is a lot going on in the world and even though we have settled into our new routines at school, it is still a lot changes. These changes and uncertainty can cause anxiety in all of us. If your child is experiencing anxiety, feel free to reach out to our student services team. They are a fabulous group who deeply care about our students.
Have you tried any of our family dares? This next week's Sweet Surprise sounds "sweet'.
Lastly, enjoy this last hurrah of warm weather this weekend. Was that just last year we had snow in October??
Stay safe and be well,
Jill Marr

Transitioning from F2F to OVLC
The District launched the Ocon Virtual Learning Community (OVLC) at the start of the school year to provide families an alternative option to in-person learning in our school buildings amid the COVID-19 pandemic. When we launched this new program, we planned several transition times throughout the year when students could move from face-to-face learning into the OVLC or vice versa. These transition times align with the semester for high school students and the trimester for intermediate and elementary students.
We are approaching the end of the first trimester and the deadline for intermediate and elementary students to move into the OVLC if they would like. Please review the information below if your student will move from face-to-face learning into the OVLC for the second trimester.
Second Trimester Transition
Students in grades 4K-8 who are currently attending school face-to-face will have the opportunity to move into the OVLC on the first day of the second trimester, Monday, November 30.
The process to move from face-to-face learning into the OVLC:
Complete this request form no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 13.
Administrators will email the families of students moving into the OVLC on Friday, November 20. This email will have information on:
The process for picking up personal belongings at your school building
How to return learning materials that will not be needed within the OVLC
An introduction to the on-boarding process for all new OVLC students which will occur the week of November 30
Learning More About the OVLC
Families interested in learning more about the OVLC before making this decision should visit www.oasd.org/OVLC to learn more about the program and curriculum foundations, virtual learning expectations, and the instructors who guide learning within the OVLC.
