INSPIRE, ENGAGE, EMPOWER!
GROWING GREATNESS through......building "readers"!!!
As you saw in our data last week, we are heading in the right direction with phonemic awareness and phonics. How exciting!!! Next, we start to see students apply these skills and become more fluent at reading as they continue to be exposed to decodables. Eventually, this fluent reading then leads into deeper comprehension and their building of a richer vocabulary.
As we all know, we can't wait until 3rd, 4th or 5th grade to start focusing on vocabulary and comprehension. The above picture shows seven key comprehension strategies that we need to be teaching children to use when they read or listen to text. This can start as early as kindergarten with our interactive read aloud books. PD is coming soon.

"All About Taylor Myers"
Taylor was born on November 1st in Fort Wayne. She goes by two nicknames: Bug and Tay-Tay. Taylor is the mother of a two year old boy, Jaxson (Jax). Taylor also recently got engaged to her main squeeze, Austin.
Taylor is passionate about being a good momma to Jax, mental health and her business called, MakeScents & Co. She loves to go eat at Lalos Mexican Restaurant and watch "Friends" on television. Taylor loves animals, especially the sloth. She spends her weekends working at vendor events and craft shows and doing homework. Taylor is working to be a Psychologist.
Taylor enjoys physical activity and quiet conversations. When it is nice out, she would rather be at the beach and drinking cold beverages. However, when it is cold out, Taylor is an indoor kind of gal and she likes her hot drinks. She does think the mountains would be a great thing to visit during the fall time, talk about beautiful scenery at that time of year!
If money weren't an issue, Taylor would travel. Some places she would love to go include Paris, Greece and Bora Bora.
What I know about Taylor - she is dedicated to her friends and family. Little Jax is the most important guy in Taylor's life and she is a good momma! Taylor loves her North Side family and we love her!
