Black History Month
We have many celebrations happening during Black History Month. Please check out the link below to read up on how PLSD is celebrating. One of my favorites is playing music from inspirational Black Americans as the students and staff begin their day. Music from The Sledge Sisters, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles among many others starts our day off right! We have continued learning and celebrating with fun "Who am I?" facts over the announcements. Many aspects of our lives were engineered by innovative Black Americans.
The celebration continues!🎉
Below you will find pictures throughout our building of the various ways our amazing staff has celebrated the amazing accomplishments and influences of Black Americans! Take a 👀. ⬇️

Virtual Community Coffee Chat with Dr. Briggs and Treasurer Ryan Jenkins 💻 ☕️
This year has come with many challenges for our families and our schools. Join Superintendent Chris Briggs and Treasurer Ryan Jenkins for coffee from wherever you are on March 2 at 12:30-1:30 PM to talk about what’s on your mind.
Dr. Briggs and Mr. Jenkins will also share about the future of Pickerington Schools and answer questions about the District’s bond issue on the May 4 ballot. This issue was placed on the ballot by the Board of Education as part of the Facility Plan for Progress to construct a new junior high building and update and create additional learning and extracurricular spaces to meet the needs of our growing community.
The Zoom link to join the meeting will be sent out closer to March 2. We hope to see you there!
2021 Online Kindergarten Registration Starts March 15
Please note: all families (whether new to the district or with existing students) should begin the kindergarten registration process by using the online registration form located on the PLSD website on March 15.
Kindergarten registration for fall 2021 begins in the district on Monday, March 15 (The link is active now but the dropdown menu for 2021-2022 registration will not be available until the morning of March 15).
Children must be a least 5 years old by August 1, 2021, to be registered for kindergarten this fall. The district offers half-day kindergarten both morning and afternoon sessions. Parents may request a morning or afternoon preference. Depending on the number of parents with preferences, a lottery may be held to determine placement.
The kindergarten registration process begins by filling out the online registration form that goes live on March 15. Access to the kindergarten registration system will be open by approximately 9 a.m. that morning. After completing the application — including uploading required documents — please submit the application. Once submitted, Welcome Center staff will review the application and contact you by email if there is anything else needed.
If all is complete, an email will be sent to the parent stating the application has been approved/Processed, and the paperwork will be forwarded to the appropriate school. Someone from the school will contact you regarding the next steps.
At this time, parents will not be setting up an appointment for a readiness assessment. Those assessments will be scheduled at a later date still to be determined.
Parents are advised that, due to the high number of calls, our staff and phone lines at the Welcome Center may be very busy at the beginning of kindergarten registration. We appreciate your patience!
Find complete information about kindergarten registration on our website.
Parent drop off and pick up (Important Info)
- Please have your student exit and enter your vehicle from the passenger side, if they need to exit from the driver's side the parent will need to escort them to the sidewalk.
- You may NOT park in the parking lot and escort your child into the building.
- During drop off, once the traffic line has stopped and your vehicle is in a position to let your student out on the sidewalk, please do so. We kindly ask that you do NOT wait to drop them off until you are all the way to the door.
- during pick up, please follow our teachers on duty instructions on which cone you will need to park next to in order to pick up your child.
These expectations and guidelines keep our drop off and dismissal running as smoothly as possible for all families. We thank you for your cooperation.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free, high-quality books to children ages birth until 5 years old, no matter their family’s income. These books are typically sent out on a monthly basis. According to readingrockets.org, reading books aloud to children stimulates their imagination and expands their understanding of the world. It helps them develop language and listening skills and prepares them to understand the written word. If you are interested in signing up or learning more about this program click here.
A reminder to those who haven’t paid your student fees for the 2020-2021 school year, please do so as soon as possible.
Each year the district assesses a fee to all students for supplies and consumable materials. The deadline for paying fees has passed. To make a payment, log in to your Parent Portal on Infinite Campus. You may also send a check to the school with your student made payable to Pickerington Local Schools or PLSD. To ensure proper posting, please reference your student's name and student ID. If school fees are not paid, it will result in grades and transcripts being held until payment is received.
Here are the fees for each grade level:
Kindergarten - $19.00
First Grade - $17.00
Second Grade - $17.50
Third Grade - $22.00
Fourth Grade - $23.50
If you have questions regarding fees, please contact Pickerington Elementary at 614-548-1400 or call the Treasurer's Office at 614-833-2110.
