Dear Staff and Families,
I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of you to the 2022-2023 school year! Whether you are just joining our EUSD family or you are returning, we are so excited to begin the year together. EUSD is a safe, caring, and innovative place for students to learn and thrive. As we launch into this new year with renewed enthusiasm for the creative, student-centered learning we have valued over the years, we are thankful for your continued support.
This year, we will continue to be laser focused on instructional supports, equity and the wellbeing of our students and staff. Ensuring that each child feels safe and a genuine sense of belonging is most important. It is our strong intent to address the inequities and racial injustices impacting education by ensuring all children are seen, heard and loved for their uniqueness and strengths. We are fortunate to be able to offer various supports for academic, social and emotional needs for all students in order to address individual gifts and challenges. We are steadfast in our commitment to monitor the progress of every child to intervene or enhance learning swiftly.
This year does represent a shift away from some of the previous guidance and restrictions around the pandemic. We know that COVID-19 is still with us and will not be going away soon, and we have learned a great deal about how to adapt and support safe in-person learning for all students. The latest guidance follows the CDC and CDPH requirements and there is a clear expectation that we all play a role in keeping our students safe and healthy. The important factors remain: anyone feeling ill should remain home, individuals who are positive should isolate, regular cleaning and enhanced ventilation should continue while masking is recommended it is not required. We enthusiastically look forward to welcoming our students back to class on Tuesday, August 16th for a sensational school year.
Warmly,
Andrée Grey, Ed.D.
Superintendent
