Third Grade Learning Connections

Message From Your Third Grade Teachers
We miss you all so very much! We miss learning together in the classroom and seeing your faces. We miss the laughter and the noise and the hugs. We know you miss it, too. While this is a very challenging time, we are working very hard to learn new ways of teaching you from afar. We know you are getting very good at typing and using new apps and websites too. We are in this together and our third grade family will keep doing our very best each day.
We hope you enjoyed the virtual field trips! We loved reading your postcards and hearing what you liked best about the trips.
At this time, we are NOT following the lessons that were sent home in March. Please disregard that paper and follow the lessons your teacher is sharing in Google Classroom. Your child should be logging into Google Classroom each day for the assignments.
As a reminder, here are the codes for the third grade Google Classrooms:
Mrs. DellaRocca: rgn2c2b
Mrs. Falco: xfpiabp
Mrs Gross: qu7gsj3
Mrs. Sokolowski: vnvco7t
We are so EXCITED about SPIRIT WEEK! (Sorry for shouting!) Each day, take a picture of yourself related to the theme. Post it on the Padlet for that day. Let's show some third grade SEM spirit and know that we are always better together! In the picture, click on the day of the week to access that Padlet. Your teacher will also post it in your Google Classroom page. Let's show our SPIRIT!
Notes From Our Virtual Travels
Mathematicians At Work
Fractions!
This week, we will be presenting lessons a little differently as we review fractions on a number line and equivalent fractions. We will also be doing some problem solving work! Please watch this video so you are ready to use some new tools to show your thinking! Students need to head to Google Classroom each day to see the math work being shared. If students need a little screen break but want to practice fractions concepts, try the "Create a Fraction House" linked below.
Word of the Week
Word Study- Homophones
Unstoppable Readers!
Nonfiction Focus
This week, we will be sharing lessons on nonfiction reading. Please head to Google Classroom each day to see what your teacher is sharing with you. The virtual field trip libraries have many fiction and nonfiction books to explore. Feel free to go back to those baskets to learn even more about the places we visited last week.
Super Scientists: Earth Day Explorations
Wednesday, April 22 is EARTH Day. It is an important time to think of how we can take good care of the environment. Let's explore different resources to learn about Earth Day. For some of these resources, please be sure you are logged in through Class Link Launchpad.
Wonderful Writers
We continue our work on personal narratives. Please watch the videos for more craft lessons on how to make your writing the best it can be!
