Dear Northwest Families,

We had an outstanding first day with our freshmen students and LINK Crew! We were thrilled to welcome students into the building. We are so grateful to our amazing LINK Leaders, junior and senior students at Northwest serving as mentors and guides for small groups of our freshmen. Our sponsors are exemplary as they prepare this day and share in the first day activities. We are excited to welcome all of our students tomorrow for the opening of our school year!

My reminders are quick this week:

• Please remind your student to double check their schedules in Skyward. Updates have been made in some areas, so a picture from a prior week may be outdated now. If there are any errors, please reach out to us.
• Please keep a close eye out for our students in the drop-off and pick-up lanes. It is safest to drop your student by the curb. We encourage pick-up and drop-off in the East circle drive. If you do use the West side, please be mindful and yield to the bus traffic. The buses will close the West circle drive for about 15 minutes after school until they depart.
• Reach out with any questions or concerns.

School pictures of all underclass students will be taken during their ELA classes either Friday (tomorrow) or Monday, August 15. You can determine when your child’s picture will be taken by first seeing who their ELA teacher is and what hour that class meets. That information is available on Skyward.

Next, look at the schedule attached to this email. Find the hour your child has ELA and then search for your teacher’s name on the Friday (blue) schedule or the Saturday (green) schedule.

o Last day JCCC guarantees they will be able to process applications so students can enroll on time.

· DEADLINE Accuplacer & Enrollment – September 16

Remaining student MacBook distribution will be August 16th and 17th. All student and parent Skyward verification forms must be completed in order to check out a MacBook.

2022 - 2023 Online Fee Payment is available:

New this year, fee waiver requests will be based on qualification for free or reduced lunch support. You may complete the application for lunch support after July 1 at the following link: https://www.schoolcafe.com/SHAWNEEMISSION.

Families are encouraged to complete an application for free or reduced priced meals as part of the Online Verification. The link to the Child Nutrition Meal Program Application is available on Skyward or can be found on School Cafe.
