In 2019, our community approved a DVUSD Bond that included improvements to K-8/7-8 Media Centers across the district. Please join Mrs. Gillett for a Virtual Parent Input Session to review the proposed improvements to the DMS Media Center and to provide feedback. An in-person session was held on Nov. 2 at 5:00pm with minimal attendance. We hope the virtual option will allow more community members to review our plans and provide their input. Please join us!

Student Council Representatives will be selling Fall Thankful Grams From Nov. 6th through Nov. 9th in the cafe during lunches. Students can purchase a gram to send to someone they are thankful for. All funds raised will benefit StuCo events on campus.

StuCo is hosting its third Wear a Hat Wednesday on Nov. 8th. All students and staff are invited to purchase a "sticker" for $1.00 that allows the wearer to sport their favorite hat all day on campus. StuCo representatives will be selling the lucrative stickers at parent drop off and bus arrival, so have your dollar ready if you plan to wear a hat!

McKinstry will be back on campus this month to plant donated trees in place of our missing trees lost during the monsoon season. McKinstry has been an amazing community partner with Desert Mountain, supporting such initiatives as Sensory Walks and campus and playground beautification. We look forward to another year of their volunteered service on our campus. Thank you McKinstry!

The top DMS 4th-8th grade spellers will compete in the School Spelling Bee. Each grade level will crown a champion and a runner up. Our Spelling Bee Champions will be invited to the DVUSD District Bee. The District Spelling Bee will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024 at the District Office - Governing Board Rooms.

Join us for a parade and student-led assembly in your honor. All service men and women are invited to attend the annual event at DMS and are encouraged to stay for refreshments provided by PTO in the Media Center immediately following the assembly. Thank you for your service to our country!

Calling all 8th Graders! Join the team at BCHS to learn more about course offerings, see the campus, and meet students, coaches and staff!

Thank you to the over 70 guests who RSVP'd for our Turkey Feast this year. We look forward to sharing a Thanksgiving meal with our families and bringing back this tradition. Please contact your teachers for arrival time. Unfortunately, reservations are now closed and we cannot accept additional guests due to the timelines for ordering supplies. If you missed the reservations window this year, we'll see you next year!

Join us on Saturday, November 18th at 9:00am to kick off our first annual toy drive with a fun run! Run, walk, or even waddle our 1 mile course through the school to the finish line where we will have pancakes fresh off the griddle to refuel! The first finisher for each grade level will receive a Dairy Queen gift card. YUM! Adults and students are welcome to join in the fun. Costumes are encouraged!

Entry Fee: Please bring one unwrapped toy per runner to enter the Turkey Trot! Toy Donations will be collected for Daisy Mountain Fire Department's Annual Toy Drive.

Parents looking to volunteer on campus or on a field trip must first complete a District Approved Volunteer Training. If you are planning to volunteer at an event, please come to DMS on Wednesday, Nov. 29th at 9:30am for an in-person training with Mrs. Patti Atchley in our front office.

We are so proud of our Blackhawk baseball and softball players. Both teams had a fantastic season and made it to the semifinals. Softball played strong, but lost to Norterra Canyon and the boys lost to Canyon Springs. Thank you Coach Trexler and Coach Villareal!

Desert Mountain PTO is inviting all families to join the team! This year we are hosting our first membership drive since 2018. We need your support! To accommodate all families, we have two membership options this year.

• The "No Fuss" membership for $15: I do not plan on volunteering but I'll be attending PTO events. I'd also like to vote on how fundraising dollars are spent.
• The "Volunteer Membership" for $10: I plan to volunteer at a PTO event and I'd also like to vote in how dollars are spent.
