WWII Fashion in America
By Allen De Sagun
Introductory
1940s was the turning point of fashion within America. Since clothing was rationed as well, there were manly creative ideas for making beautiful selections of clothing. With many arrays of colors, and selected from interesting fabrics, it is truly interesting to see the adaptations people had taken from this certain time period.
Main Articles of Clothing
This woman's dress could have started out as a man's striped suit.
Although looking quite uncomfortable, this cloak-like article of clothing is most likely made from an old blanket.
This outfit could have been considered to be an "early onesie," but despite the appearance, this outfit was very popular during the war times.
To accompany the onesie, people could have carried gas masks with specially-designed handbags.
Although seeming weird to most people today, there were ways to support the allies in the war by wearing patriotic prints and patterns.
Of course, there was women's garments to support the allies, as strange as it sounds.
Accessories
Jewelry was also in ration during WWII, so there were ways for, mainly women, to have jewelry.
This plastic-looking bracelet was made from a windscreen of a crashed German aircraft.
There were popular accessories for service women, as well as service wives and families.
During the blackout, there was also luminous buttons for coats!
