Edition 1 2019-2020 School Year
From the Principal's Desk:
Hello Hildebrandt Families!
I am so excited to welcome you and your students back to the 2019-2020 school year! I truly enjoy seeing all of the students return from the summer, and I hope that all are ready to come back and continue their Promise 2 Purpose journeys as Hildebrandt Mustangs! The faculty and staff have all been working hard to prepare for the students’ return, and we are ready to welcome back our Mustangs! Please be sure to read the Hoofbeat for all of the back to school information, and don’t hesitate to reach out to our offices if you have any questions.
We are also excited to reveal the school to the community after the completion of all of our construction and renovation projects. We will be able to enjoy a second gymnasium and a new kitchen this school year. These two areas will not be completely finished by the start of school, but will be functional very soon. I would like to especially thank the Klein ISD food services team who will be setting up mobile serving lines in the Hildebrandt cafeteria until the kitchen renovation is completely finished. Thank you all for helping us to make this school year a huge success!

Getting to know the Mustang Administrators
Principal
Hello Mustang Family!
My name is Lauren Marti and I have the privilege of being the Principal at Hildebrandt Intermediate School! I have worked in several school districts in the Houston area and have taught at all levels in some capacity- from Kindergarten PE all the way to 12th grade ELA! I am a graduate of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (Go Islanders!!) and of the University of Houston (Go Coogs!!). I have been an administrator at Hildebrandt for 7 years. My husband and I are both native Houstonians and have three children. We love to be active all the time, go to the beach when we can, and watch our kids (and our Houston teams!) play sports. My favorite part of my job is that I get to help families and support students through my work as a school administrator at the intermediate level. Thank you for being a part of our Mustang Family and we look forward to a wonderful school year!
8th Grade Assistant Principal
My name is Tommy Newton. I am the 8th Grade Assistant Principal here at Hildebrandt. This will be my 26th year in education, my 11th in Klein ISD, and my 3rd full year as an AP. I attended Howard Payne University and Lamar University. I spent many years as a head basketball coach around the state of Texas. I have coached at every level of school from 1A to 6A. I’m a huge sports fan. I love the Astros, Rockets, and Texans. In my free time I enjoy attending games and collecting sports memorabilia. I have 2 dogs that I enjoy spending time with; a Malti-poo and a Silver Labrador. I’m looking forward to another great year at Hildebrandt.
7th Grade Assistant Principal
6th Grade Associate Principal
Hello Mustang Nation. My name is Kathy Moulden; I’m an Associate Principal Hildebrandt Intermediate. This school year will be my 28th year in education and my 14th year as an administrator. I grew up in Beaumont, Texas and graduated from Lamar University. My husband and I moved to the Houston area in 1992. We have two children who both attended Klein ISD. During my time away from school I turn into a sun loving beach bum. I enjoy salt-water fishing, boat rides, hanging with my dogs, cheering for the Astros, oh yea…and spending time with family!
First Day Procedures
6th graders will report to the gym
7th graders will report to the cafeteria
8th graders will report to the main hallway upstairs
7th/8th graders will then report to their 1st period. 6th graders will remain in the gym and will be picked up by their teachers.
Lunches:
The first week of school, lunches do tend to run a little longer. Please know that every student will have the opportunity to eat their lunch. As part of the remodel and renovation to our campus funded by the 2015 Bond, our building has undergone a facelift and several upgrades. Our kitchen will not be ready for the start of school.
It is important for you to know, that despite the delay to the kitchen being fully functional, our amazing KISD Food Service Team will bring fresh food to our campus every day for both breakfast and lunch. Your child will receive the same selection of quality food choices as if it were cooked in our own campus facility. There will not be any reduction in the quality or quantity of food that your child is served. We anticipate that the kitchen will reopen before October 1. Please remember that Hildebrandt Intermediate school does not allow the delivery of food by third party vendors, such as DoorDash, Uber Eats, etc.
Schedule changes:
Schedule changes will be on a limited basis. We do changes for holes in schedules where your student is missing a class or has already taken the class on their schedule. We do the best can to match what your student would like to take with what they received as an elective.
Dismissal:
Car Riders/Walkers:
Students who are walkers and car riders will exit the building through the commons.
Walkers will exit the commons and walk along the sidewalk.
Car riders will walk along the sidewalk to the Gym Foyer area to wait for their ride. Students will not be permitted to walk to your car, they need to be in the loading area to help us expedite the car rider line.
Bus Riders:
6th Graders will report to the cafeteria to wait for their bus numbers to be called.
7th/8th Graders will be dismissed to the old gym to wait for their bus numbers to be called.
Please be patient the first couple of weeks as parents and students are getting used to procedures and our primary concern is student safety!
2019-2020 Bell Schedule
Frequently Asked Questions
Due to the fact that each Hildebrandt student will be issued a Chromebook, the students will be allowed to carry backpacks throughout the day. There are NO lockers at Hildebrandt.
· Where can I find out what bus I ride?
o The transportation department on the KISD website has bus route information. Type in your home address and the transfinder will give you your bus route, bus number and approximate times for pick-up and drop-off.
· What should I take to school on the first day?
o Students should bring paper, pen, pencil (teachers will let students know what other supplies are needed after that), lunch or lunch money (if money has not been placed in lunch account already), and the tentative class schedule given out at Mustang Nation Orientation.
· What time does school start?
o Students will be allowed to enter the cafeteria for breakfast at 8:30 am. The bell for 6th graders to enter the building will ring at 8:35 am and they will go to the gym. All students can enter the building at 8:49 am and first period begins at 8:55 am. 6th graders will be dismissed at 4:11 pm and all others will be dismissed at 4:15 pm. A bell schedule will be given to students on the 1st day of school and can be found on the Hildebrandt webpage.
· Where does the bus drop me off in the morning and pick me up in the afternoon?
o Bus riders will be dropped off at the back entrance of the school directly behind the cafeteria. Sixth grade students will sit at their bus table in the cafeteria until their bus is called. Seventh and eighth grade students will wait in the main gym until their bus is called. All buses will be called over the PA system and bus numbers are posted for all to see. There are always principals facilitating bus dismissal. Personal cars are not allowed in the bus area.
· Where do I get dropped off and picked up if I am a car rider?
o Car riders will be dropped off at the front of the school by the cafeteria. It is very important that car riders get out of their vehicles in the drive-way area provided for cars. Parents should not pull into a parking space and have students cross the parking lot and the car rider line.
· How does the carline work?
o For morning drop-off, the school parking lot can be accessed at any direction off of Hildebrandt Rd. Pull all the way up to drop off your student. For afternoon drop-off, you can NOT turn left into the parking lot. You will need to drive north and turn right off of Hildebrandt Rd. Pull all the way up to the gym for pick-up. Staff members are present to assist with the care line. Please follow their directions to keep the line moving and dismissal as smooth as possible
· Where do I go on the first day of school?
o After being dropped off (either by car or bus) 6th graders gather in the 6th grade commons, which is a courtyard located behind the library and directly in front of the Music Hall. When the 8:35 am bell rings 6th graders go to the gym, where they will receive a paper copy of their schedule and will wait to be dismissed for 1st period. 7th and 8th graders will wait in the commons. 7th graders will receive a paper copy of their schedule in the cafeteria, and 8th graders will pick up their schedules in the main hall upstairs.
· How will I find my first class?
o On the first day of school 6th graders will be picked up from the gym by their 1st period teachers. It is not necessary for parents to accompany students into the school on the 1st day. Teachers and staff are available to assist students.
· How much time do I have to get from one class to another?
o There is a 4 minute passing period between classes.
· Who can help me if I can’t find my classes?
o Teachers and staff are available in the hallways to assist students.
