Off and Running!
Hello Dolphin Community,
The school year is off to a great start! The district is alive with activity as teachers have been working hard to build relationships with students and students have been both deepening existing relationships and forming new relationships with their peers. Over the past few weeks, each of our schools held their individual Open Houses and it was amazing to see students and their families all throughout our schools. The Open Houses were a great reminder of how student success is supported by a strong partnership between schools and families working together in the best interest of students. It is clear from the turn out at school events that Dolphin families are committed to supporting their children's success.
I have had several folks reach out to me over the past few weeks looking for ways to help our newly arrived families living in the Emergency Shelter in Yarmouth. Coordination of care at the state-level has not been swift nor efficient. As a result, many of the families have been separated from their belongings and literally have the clothes on their back. While we were trying to figure out who at the state-level might be organizing a relief effort that we could communicate out to those interested, one of our teachers, Carolina Larrain, at Ezra Baker took charge of the situation and began organizing a clothing drive herself (a sign of the drive and determination of D-Y educators).
