SCRAPIE TAGS FOR Market Lambs & Breeding Sheep
Just a reminder for 2018 - market lambs (ewes and wethers), breeding sheep, and meat goats (market and breeding) are required to use Scrapie Tags as the official form of 4-H identification. If you do not currently have Scrapie Tags, please contact the Extension Office (402-426-9455) immediately! Do NOT wait until the deadline date!
NEW IN 2018 – SHEEP AND GOAT IDENTIFICATION PROCEDURES
• The official 4-H identification for ALL classes of meat goats and sheep is a SCRAPIE TAG.
• EID tags are NOT required for meat goats and sheep and are NOT considered an official form of 4-H identification.
• If an animal has existing EID tags, DO NOT REMOVE – IT IS UNLAWFUL TO REMOVE.
• All identification, tagging, tattooing, and DNA sampling MUST be completed by the DEADLINE DATE (listed below and on the enclosed procedures). In other words, 4-H/FFA livestock projects are NOT to be identified, tagged, tattooed, and DNA sampled AFTER the deadline date.
ALL paperwork MUST be submitted to the Extension Office in Blair on FRIDAY, JUNE 15 by 5:00 p.m. NO EXCEPTIONS.Quality Assurance Certification!
