End of the Year

Weekly Happenings

Math: We are learning about area and perimeter and reviewing addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, weight, fractions, and more.

Writing: We are learning about how to write an informational writing piecce. Each student will use the writing process to write about an animal of their choosing. We will be focusing on expanding our stories to make them more in-depth by including all of the elements of informational writing.

Reading: We are learning about the elements of poetry, how to write poems, and how that can help us understand the story. Please have your child try to read at least 20 minutes a day, get on Lexia, and record that in their student planners. Lexia can be accessed at home on the computer.

Word Work: Please remember to have your child work on their spelling when they are writing. Homework is given out the first day of the week. Tests and homework are due on Fridays.

Science: We are learning about the solar system and plants.

Social Studies: "How are governmental decisions made at the state level?" We are learning about the Missouri government and how it affects us.

Important Dates

April 24-27: MAP Testing- Make sure your student gets plenty of rest and is on time to school. Our testing starts promptly at 9AM each of those mornings.

April 28: Discovery Center Field Trip

May 5: Author B.K. Bradshaw will be here to present to 3rd grade. Her books will be on sale for $10 a piece. She has written two Crystal Brave books and we have been reading them in class.
