Counselor Newsletter January 2024
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
5 WAYS TO START THE NEW YEAR OFF RIGHT
2. Ask yourself, "What do I want to improve upon and why?" You have the best opportunity to achieve the goal you set for yourself. Be careful not to set your goals based on what another person or our culture says.
3. Set SMART goals. Set goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound.
4. Build a support system. Achieving goals is a lot easier when you surrouned yourself with people cheering you on.
5. Write it down. This seems simple, but there's power in writing your goals, perhaps in a notebook or on your phone. Make sure they are somewhere highly visible so you can read them over and over.
ONLINE SAFETY
Tips & Tricks for staying safe online!
Here are some important things to remember when being safe online!
Don't post or share personal, private information! Even on apps like Snapchat, your pictures and messages can be screenshot and shared with others without your consent! Once something is on the internet, it can be shared and accessed by others - including potential college and employers!
Keep your posts positive! Try the THINK method before you post... is it True, Helpful, Inspiring, Necessary, & Kind? If your post doesn't fit those criteria, it may not be appropriate to share!
Know who you are chatting with! Don't accept friend requests, pictures, or links from strangers. The online world can be an amazing place to connect with your friends, but it can also be a place where people are not who they say they are - so be careful to only interact with people you know!
