Food Drive Thank You!

Our annual Food Drive was a huge success! Overall, we collected 2,182 lbs of goods, which equals 1,837 meals to families here in Wake County. We even made the Urban Ministries' "One Ton Club."

We want to thank all of the families that brought in canned goods to donate to Urban Ministries. Also, we want to say an extra thank you to the 2 parents that organized this special event for our school and Urban Ministries: Kate Palmer (mother of Will and Olivia) and Erika Ressler (mother of Olivia, Caroline, & Molly).

And now for the friendly class competition results:
Mrs. Heinze's 4th grade class brought in the most canned goods and received the "Gold" Golden Can Award.

The winning classes per grade are:

Kindergarten: Mrs. Beddingfield & Mrs. Valvano

1st Grade: Mrs. Powell

2nd Grade: Ms. Cooper

3rd Grade: Ms. Wall

4th Grade: **Mrs. Heinze**

5th Grade House: Enthusiasm with Mrs. Kozemko

Thank you again, Penny Road families, for your continued generosity!

Lost & Found

As the weather cools down...and warms up...and cools down again, we know that many students come to school dressed in layers and peel them off throughout the day. If your child is missing items, please remind them to check the wall in the cafeteria to see if they left a jacket or gloves behind, on a day when it was cool in the morning and warmed up by the afternoon. Parents are also welcomed to take a look through the itemsto see if you recognize anything that has been left behind. The items are donated to outside agencies a couple of times per year when we get too full to handle the amount, so please make sure you get the items as soon as possible.

Update on our Assistant Principal

Final interviews for the assistant principal position are taking place. We will have a new assistant principal in place right after Christmas Break. If you need anything between now and then, Mrs. Bohr and Mrs. Espey are happy to help. You can call the school office or email them at mbohr@wcpss.net and cespey@wcpss.net.
