Return-to-Learn Planning Update...
Involved planning is currently taking place regarding the implementation of our district's return-to-learn plan. We are examining how to effectively support both our virtual learners, and those who will be in-person, and determining the impact this will have on our master schedule. You will be notified as soon as more is ready to be shared.
In addition to scheduling considerations, we are also planning for how to safely return our students and staff in person. We will share more about our safety procedures and practices during our first days together in the building on August 20th and 21st.
2020-2021 West High Staff Changes...
There are 26 staff changes in our building this year! These changes include:
8 staff members new to the district and our school
2 staff members returning to the district and joining our school
9 staff members who have transferred to our school from other schools in the district
3 staff members who we will share with other schools
4 staff members who have transferred to a different position in the buildingClassroom & Office Readiness...
By next week all classrooms and offices should be ready for your return. Many classrooms and offices have changed locations. Staff affected have been notified. A detailed list of these changes is included in the "Welcome Back" letter you will all be receiving in the mail soon. As we examine how we will support our virtual students, there may still be some additional changes to anticipate. We will keep you updated as those changes are determined.

Back-To-School Event Support
West High will be hosting four upcoming Back-to School events:
August 12th, 10:00am-6:00pm Registration/Laptop Checkout
- August 13th, 10:00am-6:00pm Registration/Laptop Checkout
- August 14th, 10:00am-2:00pm Registration/Laptop Checkout
- August 20th, 6:00-8:00pm Back-to-School Night with a Freshman Focus
*Teachers are expected to either assist with two hours of one of the registration/laptop check out events, or Back-to-School night . Please click the following link to register:
IEP Meeting Assistance Requested...
Our special education teachers have been guided to develop contingency plans that will be added as an amendment to the current IEP. This plans will outline how the IEP team plans to carry out special education services should the school move to a virtual or hybrid schedule.
We need to review these proposed amendments with the IEP team present, and can do so over the phone should the parent/guardian agree. We need the help of our general education teaching staff to participate in these meetings to provide input of the the general education curriculum.
*General education teachers who would be willing to assist us with any meetings we are able to schedule prior to the start of the school year (August 19th), please email Maribel with your interest and availability. You will be paid the $30/hour rate for your participation in any meetings that take place before August 19th.
